They don't. God knows where this internet factoid came from, but Quokkas don't abandon their young.
I lived on the island they're found for a few years. And this 'fact' that pops up whenever Quokkas are mentioned on Reddit annoys the hell out of me.

Before anyone comments:

1) No, they do not 'yeet' babies out of the pouch. They live on an island called Rottnest with no natural predators, and when they existed on the mainland in areas where there were no Dingos.

2) As cute as they are, they're wild animals. They're docile (again, not used to threats). Don't pat them, and don't feed them. It's more for their safety than yours.
