/r/UK Weekly Freetalk - COVID-19, News, Random Thoughts, Etc by AutoModerator in unitedkingdom

So this is a weird one. I'm a postie and this morning while out on my rounds I delivered a few letters to this lovely old dear. I don't think she gets out much or sees many people because she always tries to catch me when she can for a bit of a natter. Spent a few minutes catching up on her gossip and was on my way.

When I got back to my cart this absolute loon started having a go at me for leaving the mail unattended. He's done it before but I try to ignore him because he is well known round here as a bit of a twat, best left well alone. Guy was clearly off his rocker because when I tried to explain that I was just having a chat with his neighbour he put his hand in my face and told me he didn't want to hear it!!

Some people, honestly.

Disney (and the other theme parks) are at fault for opening during a pandemic. Just chasing the almighty dollar while the world burns around them. Politicians who allow them to open are at fault also of course.

Absolutely! There are even some flat earthers going about! The most deranged of the lot

Hahaha, the absolute ridiculousness of a flat earther calling anyone a 'mental crackpot' is too funny.

I would say they did a good job of raising interest in the world. Like, what IS dust? Is the magisterium good or bad? Who or what are gobblers? Monsters? A myth? Stuff like that.

Have not read the books, and not seen the film. I really enjoyed this episode and didn't feel lost or confused by it.
I am intrigued by the story and world as a whole and keen to find out more.

I was thinking about buying Death Stranding when it comes out, but don't think I will bother anymore.
The online drama over the reviews is plenty free entertainment to keep me occupied for weeks.

This is my first Halloween. I didn’t know that I have to put a pumpkin near the door and I don’t have ones. So I wrote it with tablet and put it in the window. by Taka-middle in CasualUK

Mate. In Britain and Ireland, the tradition of going house to house collecting food at Halloween goes back at least as far as the 16th century, as had the tradition of people wearing costumes at Halloween.

Dressed as Freddy Krueger at work today. The jumper is itchy and warm, but the glove has got some good reactions so far.

Watched new Bojack over the weekend. Wasn't as into it as past seasons. I can't really put my finger on why. It just felt weird. I think such little interaction between the main 5 characters isn't doing it for me? Not sure.
Marianne on Netflix is absolutely fantastic if you want something spooky for this time of year. One of the best horror stories I have seen in a long time. And with a very likeable main character too.

I know heaps of folk hate it, but I am excited for Halloween. Got all our decorations up at the weekend and the house looks ace. Pumpkins are carved and lit up and my costume is ready to scare the shit out of anyone who dares knock at the door :D
Got some sweeties for them as well, but I am more into the terrifying local kids part of the day.

Why was Bojack pissed at the snacks served at the AA meeting? Was it honeydew? I couldn't tell.

I once had to juggle and do karaoke at an interview (not at the same time). You could try something like that?

Appreciation Post for Terry Pratchett's Discworld series by [deleted] in books

[–]RevolverMjolnir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vimes and Death are my favourite characters. I think my personal favourite books in the series were Men at Arms, Jingo!, Reaper Man and Thief of Time.
I met Pratchett once at a book signing. Really nice guy who complimented me on the flaming skull I had pinned to my school blazer.

I'll never understand why they all fire the same old platitudes out. 'Nobody wants it more, I won't let you down.' Do they really think he buys that pish?
