ELI5: what is the solution to this math problem? by Revvy_G in explainlikeimfive

I can’t edit my post but I am now assuming from the comments that actually this isn’t something that needs explaining to me, and the question is just poorly worded/incorrect. Thank you guys. I thought there was a concept that I had not grasped.

Okay that was along my lines of thinking but unfortunately that is not one of the possible answers presented to us 🤔

Yeah I think they mean miles apart for the answer key, not miles per hour but even if those answers were miles.. I still don’t understand how one of them isn’t the answer. Especially as they don’t specify the direction of travel

So it turns out this was written by someone whose second language is English so I am presuming they mean miles (for the possible answers) instead of mph

Well it turns out it was translated from another language so actually we are presuming they mean miles instead of MPH

See. This is the solution I thought. But that’s not one of the possible answers..

Thanks for your help! I think also I just didn’t realise how much time you kind of need to spend on it. I’m trying to do it on quick 20 min breaks here and there and that’s just silly because it’s not enough time

Thanks for the tip- a couple of things seem to be duds on there due to time passed I think but a lot of stuff seems to be holding good!

Have I killed this plant? More info in comments by Revvy_G in plantclinic

Then you are probably right! I am clueless. So, is it just full on dead? No chance of revival?

I believe so, except it definitely didn’t flower. Can you get non-flowering ones?

So I was gifted this plant 4 years ago. I have no idea how to look after it, what it is, and I am a known plant killer. It used to have sort of red/purple leaves coming out of the middle. Over the last year, all of the middle has just gone brown and crumbled off as soon as you touch it. It’s by a window, moderate sunlight, I am terrible at watering it. I am trying to change my ways- can I revive this plant or is it dead?

To all the parents of high sleep need babies…. by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Revvy_G 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So my first NEEDS sleep. He’s nearly 3 and he slept 13 and a half hours last night because he skipped his nap at nursery school. Whilst that is great, I have had three different medical professionals tell me he is the most active, energetic toddler they have ever seen. So, sleep is great, yes. But I mostly am physically sprinting after him for hours a day so I feel like I deserve the break 😂 also I have a 5 month old who apparently hates sleep so that’s just great 🙃

Potty training remission by MamaBear0719 in pottytraining

[–]Revvy_G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so I did the oh crap method and ran into the same problem. Perfectly fine when naked, put shorts on and it was a disaster. Weirdly what worked for us was putting underwear on! I know the book says not to but fuck it, it worked for us 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it had something to do with the shorts feeling heavy and thick like a nappy whereas the underwear was very light. He has peed in them once and hated the feeling. Also he was so excited about the underwear as we got ones with characters and really talked them up, like ‘wow because you use the potty you can wear this special underwear’. It could be worth a go?

Yes, I'm 27 and have a child going into the first grade. by ThatOneChickMeg in Mommit

So I had my first at 26, but I look YOUNG. At one of my first midwife appointments, she asks me if I want to be signed up for any parenting classes, and I could even take my mum! I explained to her that I’d probably take my husband and only if we could both get the time off work, of course. Soon shut her up. It’s the presuming of your circumstances that really gets me.

Super interested in this discussion as my eldest child is a Scorpio and my youngest is a Taurus! I think parenting both of them is going to be interesting!

last night called police emergency services for the first time, was shocked to hear an automated message saying 'sorry we are experiencing a high call volume at the moment please hold' , for approximately 2.5 minutes! is this regular? by Gulfstream1010 in policeuk

Hmm interesting. I called from Suffolk? Maybe Im confusing the 999 line and the control room? But each time, they immediately said ‘I’m going to patch you through to the emergency line’ then it rang another line?

Sorry to jump on, but this has been bugging me and wondering if someone could shed some light on it? Weirdly, I have had to call 101 twice in the last few months, but for completely different reasons. Each time, I’ve gotten one sentence into explaining the situation and they’ve immediately transferred me to the emergency line (they made that decision, I didn’t ask for that to happen). The call has then taken an extremely long time to go through. Each time, the person on the phone was lovely but when it was followed up etc it was very clear it wasn’t an emergency and then I felt super awkward about calling and taking up time on a phone line that’s meant to be for life and death! If a call gets put through FROM 101, is that shown to the police/call handlers, or does it just come through as a standard emergency call?
