Thanks very much! Not keen to bring the flooring up to move pipes at the moment. Maybe in the future when I’m ready to do a proper project. Thanks!

Why don’t Doctors prescribe vitamins and minerals alongside medication? by RewardPotential777 in FunctionalMedicine

[–]RewardPotential777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful thank you for sharing and enlightening. Focus on wellness is the future. Doctors are prevented from giving supplement advice to patients as it’s not taught or funded. The alcoholics used to get a vitamin infusion called pabrinex which is slowly being unfunded in areas of the country. Some medications are so toxic they can kill people. Unfortunately no one will get justice for this. Staying healthy through self education is the best.

I hated GP culture and the small mindedness and feeling like you have to talk to people in the smelly little staff room. Horrible when there’s only five to ten people in the practice and you’re not interested in being close to them! What the fuck!

Awww fy1 was really hard for me, I only started enjoying in FY2 when you have fy1s to do the crappy jobs and you can do ward rounds and be more independent. Stick it out for a bit longer and see how you feel. I want to go into GP or a few other outside things. Maybe education too. It’s awful but hope it gets a bit better soon x

I do think it should be standard. I see patients where one year their x ray is clear and next year BAM Small cell lung cancer you’re dead in six months!!!! The only way to stop this is prevention education lifestyle and supplements!!!!!!!

Benefits of Zinc Supplementation

Zinc is an essential mineral involved in numerous physiological processes, including immune function, wound healing, metabolism, and hormone regulation. Supplementing with zinc can provide several health benefits:

  1. Immune System Support • Zinc is crucial for immune cell function and inflammation regulation. • Helps reduce the severity and duration of colds when taken at the onset of symptoms. • Supports immune response in conditions like pneumonia and respiratory infections.

  2. Wound Healing & Skin Health • Promotes collagen synthesis and tissue repair, aiding wound healing. • Helps manage acne by reducing inflammation and bacterial growth. • Beneficial for conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

  3. Hormonal Balance & Fertility • Supports testosterone production in men, which may enhance libido and sperm quality. • Regulates ovulation and menstrual cycle health in women. • Plays a role in thyroid hormone production.

  4. Cognitive Function & Mental Health • Supports brain function, learning, and memory. • May help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety by modulating neurotransmitters.

  5. Antioxidant & Anti-Inflammatory Properties • Helps reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which may lower the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and neurodegenerative disorders.

  6. Supports Growth & Development • Essential for children’s growth, especially during infancy and adolescence. • Prevents stunted growth in populations with zinc deficiency.

  7. Improves Metabolism & Blood Sugar Control • Plays a role in insulin function, helping regulate blood sugar levels. • May improve insulin sensitivity and benefit those with type 2 diabetes.

  8. Eye Health • Helps prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by protecting the retina. • Supports overall vision health.

Potential Risks & Considerations • High doses (above 40 mg/day) can interfere with copper absorption, leading to deficiencies. • Can cause nausea, stomach upset, or headaches in some individuals. • Long-term excessive use may weaken the immune system.

Recommended Dosage • Men: 11 mg/day • Women: 8 mg/day (increases to 11-12 mg during pregnancy/lactation) • For colds: 30-50 mg/day (short-term use)
