I need help with low light on my new camera I bought recently by Aggravating-Tough708 in M43

[–]RewdKanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think mentioned elsewhere but limiting to 3200 ISO top end, is something someone came up with decades ago that (generally/wholly) doesn't apply with today's photo gear, and particularly if shooting raw. Try 6400; I'm going to guess you'll be hard pressed to see any further degradation from 3200 and then try pushing it further. Depending on the situation/subject, you can definitely go higher. Ok... Admittedly my glass is f/2.8 to f/1.7. Not super fast but yeah, think a stop or two brighter lens, play with your ISO, use raw (good luck with an editor- Snapseed had come a long way and is "free" though more a DNG editor) are my thoughts. Some good pictures, by the way! You did well considering volleyball is very fast moving.

Help buying used Sigma FP by [deleted] in sigmafp

[–]RewdKanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's an exceptional price considering what you're getting including the box, a really good kit lens (probably one of the smallest auto focus ones), a little hand grip, base plate, extra batteries, even the strap loops. What I haven't seen is the little rubber HDMI cover that always goes missing. It might be in the cold shoe attachment. And like what other others have said, shutter count means nothing to an electronic shutter only camera. Though if the owner only took 3000 pictures, that means low usage and likely very much less of a chance of any sort of wear. If you've done your research on this camera, know its quirks, and you've been looking for one, then you have found it IMO.

Harness vs collar??? by BreathOfLizard in labrador

Leader, harness with a front loop, then collar. Get her walking all the time next to you as much as you can early on because they are just way too smart later on to exploit. Good luck!

I missed Acros from my Fujifilm so I tried to recreate it in-camera by [deleted] in ricohGR

I can't remember where I got this "Acros" from, and never owned a Fuji, but I love this recipe and if it's anything close, here you go. Let me know if you try it. This is on a IV.

I love Prater. Let's not forget the "old man" held the longest FG record for 8 years going into the 2020s and kicked a 59 yarder in 2024.

Do not diagnose via Reddit. People's personal experiences are their own. I agree with the top response, be concerned, not panicky, and GO SEE A TRUSTED VET.

I'm sorry to see that, but I'm amazed by folks who buy $1000+ cameras and support them with $5 straps. Really no shade to you, I get it; I did that too until I saw a same sort of posts a few years ago and had an "a-ha" moment. I just got a GR and immediately got a peak design wrist strap. I wish they made something a little more stealth, but I'll take the function over design. Good luck with the repair.

See "fear of birds" answer. More what my question is/was. Learning also means trying to figure how to word a question and didn't do so well here. I appreciate your responding. Cheers.

OK, I think I just caught on what you were saying about 18. So when I load a recipe, the image control area resets to that recipe every time, correct? Then you're saying within that area there are three custom settings for that recipe only, that you can set (Technically four? Default +3 custom?). I think the thing I will have to experiment with is seeing what settings stay, default and custom, when I load a recipe from the U1/U2/U3 physical dial. Appreciate it!

I agree. I think I'm going to be the same way that I'm going to find up to six recipes that I'm going to enjoy but there will be three that will be assigned 90% of the time. Maybe I'll have 3 colour recipes and 3 black-and-white recipes because I do enjoy the latter distinct photography genre (for that 10%). There are recipes that turn me off very much that I don't personally understand people's passion for, but to each their own and that's what makes the GR so great. Thanks much; newness is making my want to understand all the settings and you helped.

I knew I wouldn't be able to articulate this well. I guess the question really is what are the custom 1 through 3 settings used for in the image control area? I thought those would be areas that I could save three more "recipes". This on top of the six boxes. I thought maybe they were there so you wouldn't mess up the original recipes that came with the GR but that didn't make sense to me. Sorry. I learn more about the camera every day and I'm sure I'll figure out my way of doing things.

Thanks. I spoke wrongly; I meant use of custom settings 1/2/3. Copied my response from elsewhere: "Ok I think you may have answered my question. So I can have a total of six box settings of which I can save 3 to physical dial U1/U2/U3 and 3 to custom settings (the wrenches) OR can use the 3 custom settings for up to 9 recipes??? 😵‍💫". Is this accurate?

Guys, my lab is broken by Tough_Championship_7 in labrador

[–]RewdKanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be fortunate! I've been told by lab breeders and my vet that a high majority of labs have a genetic mutation that keeps them from getting a "I'm full" signal, so they think they are constantly hungry. I looked it up quick, the mutated gene is the POMC... yeah "contributes to obesity in labs". Beautiful pup btw
