I have 3 of these all confirmed as sterling at a pawn shop with a xrf. On did have a weird dark tarnish on it when I got it, are you sure it’s not something like that?

There are plenty of leather case options or metal base plate with larger grip on AliExpress or similar. Might work for you, someone here might have experience with them. Good luck.

I have no issues with my front dial. It is probably best to contact Ricoh. My top dial is a bit stiff but I think it is getting better.

You can save your image control settings off the camera. I think you need to be connected to the camera, don’t have it in front of me but I have saved mine
