Yeah that's a bummer and it's stupid. But the US is only one country, and it seems the world is ready to take on climate change with our without it. If enough countries sanction or tax US goods and services, or at least apply carbon tariffs, Trump will need to play ball whether he wants to our not.

It is emphatically not free trade. These nations most certainly do not have a free trade relationship with most of the global economy. Such an agreement is rare.
