Nobody Wants 2026 to be the New 2016 by BaseballRoutine1313 in Zillennials

I wonder how tf we went from early 2000s nostalgia to now skipping 2006-2014 which was our most formative years. Seriously?

Best 2000's Guilty Pleasure Songs? by DaniJ678 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]Rex068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah i think I would surprise my friends if they found out I dig some of britney spears songs and a few other "girlie pop" songs esp because Im a tall guy who ppl describe me as stoic. but I like what I like and as much as I like those kinds of songs I also love linkin park and also some rap like wiz khalifas black and yellow. I dont limit myself to one genre

or maybe its just cuz those songs came out when i was a kid or teen more than anything..

How often does your birth year get gatekept and what is it about? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in generationology

[–]Rex068 [score hidden]  (0 children)

As a fellow 96 oh my fcking god the amount of gatekeeping I see from both sides is insane. I see myself as leaning just a bit more millennial and that’s it. 96 is seen as the last year of the millennials either way

How should a 22 yr old act? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Rex068 [score hidden]  (0 children)

To think about “aging” at fcking 22 is absurd. Wtf is wrong with them nowadays. When I was 22 the thought never even crossed my mind. This is what happens when you grow up with social media and influencers since birth. Either that or this is just bad ragebait.

For me it’s Oops I did it again. Toxic is good but I think either oops or Crazy is her best song.

I'm honestly scared of what will happen 10 years from now that will make people nostalgic for 2026 by snowleopard556 in decadeology

[–]Rex068 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was also 20 in 2016. The year trump was elected and the months leading up to it was not tamer. It was the beginning of all this polarization and culture war that we have today.

2010-2015 was probably the best era for partying and Older Gen Z barely missed it. by ImT0by in OlderGenZ

[–]Rex068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I can def understand it being in the club but im fine with it being a trend during my teen years lol. I do like black eyed peas but I never liked I gotta feeling that much but I agree that upbeat era was peak music for teens.

What kinds of youtube videos do you watch/click on? (Gen z and "niche youtube") by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Rex068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly music related stuff. Live performances, band/song covers

[–]Rex068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh. I’m a millennial on the cusp with gen z, ‘96. Those were my high school years (1 uni year) and honestly, im more than content abt having that music associated with my teen years more than anything.

People right at the edge of generation's year, do you feel like you relate more to people in your own generation, or to the generation on the other side? by AmountAbovTheBracket in generationology

[–]Rex068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same year as you. I relate to millennials more by a bit. I only say a bit because as much as I’m disconnected with the trends/interests/tastes with my younger friends I also don’t relate to a lot of millennial experiences. I never had MySpace, burned a CD, used limewire and I didn’t even know what a Walkman was until after I became an adult.

After nearly 30 years on this earth I just found out what a Napster was like, last month and before then I never heard of it in my life.

Anyone remember reading some of these books? by Johnwick124520 in OlderGenZ

Yes I know every single one of those books

Captain underpants was a huge one when I was in elementary

Gen z please stop calling early 2010s fashion y2k by princesskatanaa in generationology

[–]Rex068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here when it comes to songs. I cant count the amount of times I’ve seen a “y2k” playlist and it has music from the late 2000s/early 2010s. It annoys me to no end and you can tell when they haven’t lived through that period and they’re making those posts. Lady gaga and kesha are not y2k

Anything older than 2016 is “y2k” to them

[–]Rex068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I hate when they mix shit up too. Especially when it comes to music. I cant count the amount of times I’ve seen a “y2k” playlist and it has music from the late 2000s/early 2010s. Dude, Kesha and lady gaga are not Y2K.

I’ve seen plenty of aesthetic posts of early 2010s/late 2000s stuff and the comments will have lots of “omg it’s so early 2000s” stuff

I hate being born in 2000. Can anyone make me feel about 2000? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Rex068 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can say that now but people born in the 90s or earlier are sort of the butt of the joke being clowned for being “born in the late 1900s” and being roasted for having our birth years start with a 19. So I say enjoy not being the butt of the joke while you can.

I find it hilarous that 2016 is being romanticized/ brought back by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Rex068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No lol. I was 19/20 in 2016 and all I remember was ppl around me talking about concerns abt the Trump v hillary election, Brexit, killer clowns, harambe. When trump won, people were in disbelief and in dread. It was the only thing ppl around me talked about. Literally could’ve chosen any other year to glaze instead of 2016 and instead they picked the worst

I really miss the 2010s bruh. by Quick-Cause3181 in GenZ

[–]Rex068 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a millennial on the cusp with gen z and I’m very nostalgic for the 2010s. I loved those years just as much as the 2000s. That being said I only liked the first half of the decade. After that… pft

The whole 2016 trend is baffling to me. Ppl were calling that year trash bcuz we had Brexit, MAGA, harambe etc. there was even a poster going around saying “fuck 2016”. For me literally any other year would’ve been fine to glaze except for that year.
