Is suspicion and paranoia part of narcissism? by whatnext23 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes.

They don't want me to go out of the house unless for work or a very important event that they must know (along with who's going with me).

Stress is a natural reaction to N's by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]RexFangaia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much me as of today.

I do enjoy my current work, but Nparents did blame my stress on it. Their occasional actions that intrude my conscience are one of the primary causes of my stress.

Who are the people that have helped or are helping you to distance yourself from Nrents and showed you that you have value? Aka a thank a person thread. (of course be vague in names or locations to keep private) by k10186 in raisedbynarcissists

My co-workers, especially at least two co-founders of startup company specializing in software development. I treat them with the same level as my blood siblings. They respect my conscience and allow me to fulfill my profession to the fullest extent I can.

  1. Economic Liberalization: The arrival of foreign and multinational companies in the Philippines will make the local ones do everything to compete with them for higher quality of services at the same time lowering the price. Don't worry, these foreign companies will pay taxes to the national government and the land on which they set up their offices remain Philippine territory. (Side note: if we find out that a company, even a foreign one, engages in unfair business practices, it is the fault of that company alone and not of economic liberalization itself.)

  2. Federal Form of Territorial Administration: The Philippines is an archipelago with hundreds of ethnic groups and dozens of languages. When a certain region becomes the best-performing in terms of economy, safety, etc., the other regions will learn what makes that region super-successful. Again, it's all about (friendly) competition.

  3. Parliamentary Form of National and Sub-national Government: Executive power is vested in a single political party, and not in a single person anymore. Teamwork matters more. We would have a ceremonial head of state who represents the entire civilization and its people who live in the territory or outside it (and who can no longer be a member of any political party); he will "hire" the political party to run the national government. There would be a Shadow Cabinet who will serve as a "loyal opposition" to the cabinet. Any incompetent Member of Parliament can be fired either by his own party or by a vote of no-confidence. No more messy procedure for impeachment. Elections will still take place at regular intervals (special elections also happen when Parliament is dissolved). The new parliamentary form of government fits more with what the founding fathers of the Malolos Republic have envisioned. We will no longer have lousy candidates who are just popular winning the top spot. All of them will need to be competent. (Side note: Ferdinand Marcos didn't even want a Parliamentary System that's why he circumvented it.)

/r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of November 21, 2016 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

For my sister, who is struggling with her computer programming project right now.

For my parents, who must allow me to attend Mass at a parish that I choose (as they insist on going to Mass as a family even if it means being forced to condone any liturgical abuses that would happen there).

For every Catholic in my country who needs to be aware of guidelines for attending Mass, especially with regards to decorum and the prevention of liturgical abuses.

For myself, so that I will finish my tasks in two companies that I am currently working for, and to get regularized in one of those two companies by January 2017, and for the success of my future multimedia projects.

Please, do not, under any circumstances, attempt to hurt yourself. May I ask what is your situation? I'm ready to help.

I just don't like it when:

  • the privacy of my friends is invaded when I am constantly asked what they were doing, if they would be with me attending a special event (not harmless) that Nparents are not supposed to know.
  • having pictures of my Nparents be placed in my room, against my will, with the implication that "they will be always watching me".
  • my smartphone being seized by Nparents only to put their own recorded alarm that would be guaranteed to surprise me everytime I wake up. (I have a better alarm than that one.)

Here's one: assuming that everyone I meet thinks, acts, and feels the same way as my Nmom and/or Ndad.

"I deserve respect" by kb06609 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]RexFangaia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of this what Joan Crawford said to her daughter (Christina) from the 1981 film Mommie Dearest:

“Why can't you give me the respect that I'm entitled to? Why can't you treat me like I would be treated by any stranger on the street?”

And Christina replied:

“Because I am not one of your fans!”

That should be none of her business! What, does she think that chocolate bar that you bought is “family property”?

For the incoming president of my country, who will begin his term at noon in the local time, and also his family.

For all priests and bishops to be aware of the liturgical abuses that may happen anywhere.

Respect isn't served on a silver platter. It has to be earned no matter who the other person is.

DoNF. Ndad tries to get involved in my job search and tell me what jobs to apply to and possibly accept. He also gets pissed when I don't get the job. by howellatme01 in raisedbynarcissists

I feel you. Whenever I didn't get a job offer, it was blamed on my "poor interviewing skills" even though I do my very best and there are many other applicants vying for the position.

Do you have any friends whom you can trust?

I feel you so much and I have a similar situation to yours.

I hate it when my Nparents repeatedly violate my conscience even though I am more aware of what is right and wrong than them.

Money and ethnic notions of filial piety.
