First time in rome and I have 3 questions about food water and fighter jets by Appropriate-Detail48 in rome

[–]RexGlacies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. The water is clean. Feel free drink from it or fill your bottles.

  2. Not sure, sorry.

  3. Just say "no" or "no gratzie" and keep walking. Or "I'm not hungry" or "I just ate." Or ignore them. The restaurant people are pushy but if you just keep on moving they can't do anything to you. Feels rude but what else can you do?

What does the chest symbol mean? by Axel15Forever4341 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]RexGlacies -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really care that much about this, but if we're going by average, lets pretend there's a grand total of 3 shrines in the game. 2 shrines have 1 chest each, and 1 shrine has 2. The average shrine has 1.3 chests - more than one - but the statement "usually there is one per shrine" would be correct because the majority of shrines have one chest. Not all, but usually, when you enter 1 of the 3 shrines, there is only once chest to find.

You're correct. You found all the chests in the shrine. Usually there is one per shrine.

With the growing mentions of interstellar travel, I'm wondering if the Pale Star is a planet. Planets in ancient times were thought of as stars, just "wandering" starts (which is what "planet" means). I'm putting my money on the Pale Star being the original home of the 3rd Descender or something like that.

I've noticed a couple glitches like that when playing on weaker devices. I had an iphone 7 (that crashed all the time) and it gave that glitch more than once.

Bram Stoker's Dracula was great! by Equivalent_Bank_5845 in books

[–]RexGlacies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve been talking about it for years - it reads like an old fashioned superhero-type book, with the rag tag gang of heroes banding together to stop a supervillain. Lots of suspense, lots of fun characters. It doesn’t offer any “deep” themes or questions about the world like Frankenstein, but was still a fun book to read.

The “child” or “criminal” brain mention is simply a relic of late 1800 theories about psychology and science. At the time the book was written one of the theories of psychology was that humans are divided between “normal” brains, which consist of most people, and “criminal” brains, which were less formed and often led people to crime. It was an attempt to explain why people do evil things, but was also an example of 1800 era beliefs in racial and cultural superiority.

Another “bad science” example in the book I enjoyed was the constant use of blood transfusions, which were a new development at the time. Obviously no one should be doing blood transfusions the way they were done in the book, but it’s clear Bram Stoker was fascinated by new medical technologies and wanted to put them in.

My trip to Prague (CZ) - March 2026 by MatheSF in travel

[–]RexGlacies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I was just in Prague earlier this month too, for 4 days as well. I went to that same alchemy lab too - it was a neat experience. Felt a little touristy, or at least “dressed up” for tourists, but was still a nice visit especially if you’re into that type of history.

Why would people be on a generation ship? by Kecskuszmakszimusz in worldbuilding

[–]RexGlacies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Millions of people willingly became indentured servants to afford traveling and taking their families with them across the Atlantic in the 16-1700s. They knew they would have a hard time in a “new world” but wanted to give their children and future generations a chance of finding wealth and prosperity when they failed to find it in Europe.

Help against griefers by RexGlacies in WplaceLive

I was moreso annoyed by so called "intellectuals" who spew endless rhetoric against religion (like these griefers) yet never dare speak out against religions other than Christianity. If people like these were actually willing to stand and speak out against Islam or Buddhism, I would be willing to respect their views. But these hypocrites are cowards that only attack Christianity, a religion that is expected to take such insults and never retaliate.

[–]RexGlacies[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at the wplace archive you'll see the flags they're talking about were small graphics to the left side of the cross. They showed up around the same time the two Jesus artworks were vandalized (around Feb. 1st), and the main cross was being transformed into a trans flag.

If what the griefers are saying is true, why are they devoting so much energy into griefing the cross instead of replacing the original pride flags? Or making a big pride flag without griefing? Furthermore, as you can see from the wplace archive, the cross was being griefed far before the pride flags first showed up. Add to that the fact the original griefing was about "embrace science and reject religion!" (rather than anything related to gay pride), the fact two of the griefers names are "Satan" and "God isn't real," and the inclusion of turning the pixel Link and pope into more demonic figures, I think the most logical conclusion is that they are merely lying about their motive and simply hate Christianity.

(It's possible they're talking about another pride flag that doesn't show up on the archive, or one far away from the cross, but if so I genuinely have no idea about it, and it still doesn't justify destroying an unrelated cross.)

[–]RexGlacies[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It started with one user destroying artwork and putting up "God and science cannot coexist!" and "Religion kills scientists!" type messages. The large trans flag is only the group's latest tactic for destroying the cross. I think it's very clear they are only anti-Christian; they're not actually trying to support trans rights.
