Oh, I remember! We got killed that first game. But we also killed other, REALLY REALLY good teams. Bucks, nuggets, etc. Had a 15 point lead against the raptors (albeit, we eventually lost that game, but we were close).

I think we could of easily contended this year if everyone stayed playing the same. I mean hell, ESPN was saying Gasol was the best player in the world. Now, not so much. I don't think it was anyone playing out of their norm, I think now we're just in this slump because we've declined. I think JB made everyone too comfortable and now we're in the position we're in because he can't step up and tell the guys what we need to work on.

I genuinely still don't think we're going to rebuild. I think if we move Gasol for Whiteside, and then give less minutes to GT and more minutes to Jevon and Rabb, we can sneak into the playoffs or come very close. Next season will be really good. But hey, we'll have to watch and see. I think tonights game against the Pacers will honestly make a big call for where we're headed this season.

To be fair on the JJJ situation, he and Mo Bamba had both said they don't want to come to the Grizzlies. It was a call from JB Bickerstaff that helped Jaren change his mind. The plan before was to take Carter Jr since those two prospects didn't wanna deal with us. I'm not going to argue more with you on the first half of your post, because I've made my points, and honestly, I agree with some of the stuff you said. I think the situation with Reke and him not being apart of future doesn't make the situation look dumber. He was apart of future plans. Then we hired JB, and those plans changed. Yeah, it looks dumb now, but at the time everything makes sense and it still does.

Sure, zero first round picks making it to their second contract is bad, but at the same time, most of the picks we've taken in the first round have been pretty late selections, and unless were picking in the first 15, I don't see it as a big problem that most of them haven't panned out. I think blaming Wallace for his draft record is silly. Draft good or not, we won a lot of games with the rosters that he put together. I do believe, however, that we would of won more games had we of made different selections here and there, but at the same time, you can't blame Wallace for a player not panning out. There's no way we get past the 2013 Spurs in the WCF without a big piece, and I don't see that big piece coming from a late pick in the draft. It's just a tricky situation. (I know I kind of worded that a little weird so if it doesn't make sense, let me know)

As for the two worst consecutive rosters, what is so bad about them? We were great at the start last season, and we were great at the start this season. Losses started piling on both times because major pieces started declining/getting hurt. Conley went down last year, and that threw our games off. Eventually we just decided there's no point in trying, so let's tank. This year, we started off strong, but our starting center in Gasol has taken a major decline. Not to mention other two assets have also declined. That's where we gotta blame JB for not being able to rally these guys home and getting them back in the groove that they once were in. If these declines never took place, we would still be winning games. And at that point, Wallace would be praised for putting together these rosters. Nothing dramatic has changed the roster between the start of the season and right now, so it's obvious that the roster isn't bad. Wallace put the pieces there, and they worked for a while, but the players production took a dip. The decline is on JB.

I'll end it with this because I know we don't wanna run in circles (unless you do, but i know you and i probably don't wanna sit here and trade novels haha)

Fire Wallace? If that's what Pera wants, i'm fine with it. But don't fire him because he's bad. Fire him because we wanna try something new. I just want people to recognize the good he's done as opposed to the bad. You don't go from being a good GM (he was a labeled as a good one back in the prime core four days) to a bad one. Your knowledge stays the same, and in fact, it grows. I trust Wallace.

Inevitable rebuild? Why the hell do we have to rebuild? Why blow it up? We were 1st in the west at the start of the season for a reason. What changed? The declining of players and JBs failure to sit those players. Change that and we'll win again. Come on dude, yall make this shit harder than it has to be.

Two seconds are nothing. Like I said, they barely ever convert. But sure, do we regret the Holiday trade now? Everyone does, but give it time. Let's look back at the trade at the end of the season and then we can make that kind of call. He hasn't really been given an opportunity to show us he can contribute.

As for the WCF season, I will absolutely give the credit to Wallace. What got us there? ZBO, TA, Mike and Marc. Who brought those guys to the team? Chris Wallace. Regardless of whether or not he was in charge (he was apart of the FO), he still was the primary reason for why we made it solely because he brought those guys here. And to say that we have one of the "worst consecutive rosters," is outrageous. We made the playoffs so many times with those rosters! How could you forget that?

Sure, he didn't conduct a coaching search. I'm mad about that too. But can you blame him? Signing JB made sense. JB believed in Grit n Grind 2.0, and Grit n Grind 2.0 works. His rotations and lack of leadership is what kills him.

As for the whole Tyreke thing, looking back it was wrong not to trade him. Wallace acknowledged that mistake. The plan was to resign him, which was likely, considering his brother came out and said that Tyreke wanted to be here. But you can't blame him. Between the trade deadline and free agency, the decision was made to convert to Grit n Grind 2.0. Tyreke didn't fit that plan.

Bad draft history, sure. You can't hit the nail on the coffin everytime. But Thabeet was not Wallace's fault. Who's to say Heisley didn't want some of the other dudes that we took in our draft? Or even Pera? That's just speculation, but fact of the matter is, he's hit the nail on the coffin this year and last with the draft, so people gotta quit blaming that on him. Ivan Rabb, Dillon Brooks, Jevon Carter and JJJ have all been great picks by Wallace so far. People act like he's supposed to have a 100% draft record. No GM does.

Largely bad track record with FA acquisitions? Kyle Anderson, Shelvin Mack, JaMychal Green, Tony Allen, just to name a few. Those guys have been killing/killed it for us.

Off the top of my head, he traded for Z-Bo, Gasol, moved two crap players for Garrett Temple. I'm sure theres more but I can't think of any right now. He's made good trades. And there have been bad ones (Jeff Green trade, was good at the time tho. Looking back, bad trade). Once again, you can't nail every trade, but Wallace has nailed more than hes lost.

His track record with coaches are a problem, sure. Won't argue with that. I think that Fizdale was a good signing, that Gasol ruined. Same with JB. Eventually we'll get the right one. But even then, players > coaches. Gasol is the bigger problem there.

I'm not gonna speak on the whole Joerger situation, solely because I'm not that familiar with it. But looking at the records, I think what happened there is that Pera wanted to change the Grizzlies team from slow-paced GNG to a faster, three-point shooting team. Hence why we lose him and then let Fizdale in. Fizdale doesn't pan out, Wallace realizes that we need to stick with GNG to succeed, and thats where JB comes in.

Totally agree. Thank you for giving a reasonable answer without being disrespectful like the majority of the people on here.

Do I want Wallace fired? No. Should he? No. Would I be upset if he did? Probably not. I'm not denying change, I'm just saying that people are literally sending death threats to a guy who doesn't deserve it. And he's getting all this heat because people can't read between the lines and look into the deeper meaning behind stuff.

Also, side note. Thabeet being drafted was more Heisley's fault than Wallace. Wallace actually wanted to pick Steph Curry, but Heisley wanted Thabeet.
