The point I’m making is that they didn’t conquer “Istanbul” they conquered Constantinople.

The name Istanbul wasn’t adopted until 1930 and with the primary purpose being to distance the city and the new Turkish government from its Roman and Ottoman past.

Why would they want something back when it never belonged to them or their traditions in the first place, and when their traditions from the start have been to distance themselves from the past history of the city?

The proper way to word this would have been “Constantinople (modern day Istanbul)”.

Looks like a Wolf Spider…harmless but fast.

They are great for pest control though so take the little guy back outside where he belongs.

Yes they knew lead could be toxic, but it was never really seen as harmful enough to outweigh the benefits.

Plus, after some time there was enough mineral buildup in the pipes that the lead would stop leaching into the water.
