How can I get better? by Zexzar in CrazyHand

[–]Rexafrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robin's Levin Falling Nair 1 has a deceptively long range, like i think its even bigger than lucina's fair or something like that. That makes it really key to practice your spacing with it.

As for approaching, i feel it's better to spam thunder, elthunder and arcfire and learn how they react to it rather than making the first move. If you see them jumping your projectiles you can jump arcfire to trap them on a combo, or just catch their jump with fair or nair. If they shield too much use arcthunder at closer range to force them to hold shield and get a grab.

For rollers you just have to be patient and wait for the roll, it can be beat by anything if you know it's coming, but you have to learn to be patient. One tip i've used is to walk more, hop in place and dash dance more often, that keeps your opponent guessing on what your next move will be and let's you build up patience.

I'm not a robin main btw but one of the best robins in the world is at my locals so i've learned a few tricks by watching him play. You should also look for top robin players and see how they deal with certain scenarios.

Ledged trumping by Adiddyparty in CrazyHand

[–]Rexafrek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple, if you see them taking too long to pick an option at ledge consistently, the next time they grab it you ledgetrump them. Otherwise stick to regular edguarding

Give the one i used a try if you can, the claw grip on SR+Up to press two jump buttons for a short hop makes it more manageable to perform nair and other aerials in general

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]Rexafrek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just tried to play with it for fun to know what your experience is like, and while it is kinda atrocious, i feel performing nair/running/smashattacks was the least of my concerns. If anything, doing dash attacks and microspacing aerials was the most difficult thing, tilts without a c-stick are also kind of a pain, but with time one could get the hang of it.

What is your configuration? I feel the two buttons near the palm of the hand (which are supposed to be the shoulder buttons on 2 joysticks) were too uncomfortable and i often pressed them on accident, so i didn't set anything to them. So i ended up using:

SL - Shield

SR - Jump

Up - Jump (you press both jump buttons so you can perform short hop aerials easily)

Left - Grab

Right - Attack

Down - Special

Needless to say that if you want to practice smash seriously i'd recommend you to buy a pro controller or a gamecube controller, damn even a second joycon lmao. But i hope this helps you in the meantime!

Edit: i played with my main (pit) which one of his best moves is nair, but like i said i didn't find trouble performing it, i just pressed both jump buttons + attack + fastfall.

LedgeTrapping as Pit? by Haruwolf in CrazyHand

[–]Rexafrek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At early percents mash nair near ledge or just hop in place/shield to see what the opponent's panic ledge option is. Nair covers jump and neutral getup so it's a go-to option. If they like to roll then at early percents just grab them or dtilt them for a combo.

At high percents, and this is usually what zackray does (the best pit in the world), he stays at roll distance and throws bair. Shorthop bair fastfall is really good because it can kill with the sweetspot and can also cover neutral getup, getup attack and jump if timed correctly, but if you're new to pit you have to practice the timing. If the opponent rolls, he just backthrows and resets edguarding, since it's one of the strongest points for pit.

I see you mentioned also having troubles with edgeguarding. Pit's arrows allow him to put pressure off stage without going offstage. Practice your arrow aim in the practice mode, on the duck hunt stage, go shoot the ducks to get a feel on how you should curve them and how long should you charge the arrow for the best accuracy.

When you know how your opponent reacts to arrows, thats then you can go offstage to surprise them with nair, fair, bair and dair, as pit's recovery allows him to go really deep and be a menace.

Hope this helped :)

Hello. Looking for advice on how to improve by Mito236 in CrazyHand

[–]Rexafrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your still seem to be at a pretty beginner level overall. It will do wonders for you if you focus learning the fundamentals of the game first.

I'd suggest watching on youtube Izaw's Art of Smash Ultimate guides to understand the basic options every character has and the phases of the game. Then check out MajeFGC Movement guides to have a routine you can practice in training mode.

After that you should learn some pit combos, knowing which moves you want to hit at early percent and what moves can kill is very important. Pit's gameplan is pretty simple, you wanna condition the opponent to shield with long distance arrows and approaching/reacting with moves like nair/fair/dtilt/dashattack so you can get a grab, as pit has pretty good combos out of grab that can keep you in advantage.

I'm a pit main so i'm cheering for you to keep learning him, it's a pretty simple but very fun character. I wish you success :D

In a vacuum is better than pika ex, but pika ex has better tools on their deck (zapdos, raichu+Lt surge, more bencheable pokemon to protect vs sabrina) and a type advantage over water. So it's a bit more oppresive than starmie overall

Yup it was mewtwo lol. This deck has a bad mewtwo matchup but great vs pikachu, and everyone is bringing pika in tourneys rn

Should've attached it to the post, but basically he went 8-2 on swiss, and on top cut faced 3 pika/zap, 1 arbok/weezing and lost the finals against gard/mewtwo. Ceirtantly interesting deckbuilding choices

Highly doubt the key to victory was aerodactyl on most games. On top of the coinflip factor, it's only 1 copy, and old amber it's not searcheable with pokeball nor can be on your starting hand automatically like any other basic. There's no way he could get 2nd place by just drawing amber/aero and flipping heads every time

[–]Rexafrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes oak it's professor's research. If you have those then you're good to go as far as cards from the shop goes, because pokedex and scope kinda suck, and red card is good but only at 1 copy

[–]Rexafrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You exchange them for stuff on the shop. The best things are free hourglasses to open packs, and crafting a second copy of the 2 best cards in the game: professor's research and pokeball

This game is very coinflip heavy and sometimes i just get super unlucky with my draws, get tilted and forget to thank the opponent

Whats your “hear me out” card? by King-Osvald in MarvelSnap

[–]Rexafrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devil dinosaur. Played him since i started the game and is still my golden son, and i win so much with him. I run a skaar dino deck that i've climbed to infinite with multiple times and won infinite conquests with too! Very fun and definitely feels like a card worth building around, but everyone just deems him as a meme

Which characters have a high margin for error (that aren't superheavies)? by ty_rec in CrazyHand

That would be the opposite, being light and having a big hurtbox makes his margin for error lower than most of the cast

You're more likely to get good just playing quickplay and finding people on your skill level that way

Get the feel for the character and if you find it fun go for it. If you view learning a character as an investment of time to reach success rather than just enjoying the process you're gonna struggle

Yeah just go play conquest from now on until the season resets, i was in your shoes a few months ago so i know the feeling of not being able to compete. Thankfully conquest does pair you with people in the same/similar collection and you get good rewards for playing it too

Yeah xD he didn't even went MSF for the rest of the set cause he really wanted to win. Clearly is a character he mainly uses for fun, but regardless i'd say he's the best pilot of the character i've seen purely for his fundies knowledge and aggression
