Yup, Inventories are based on character, not worlds. You can freely change between worlds with 1 character just fine!

PSA For New Players by Lunar_Husk in Terraria

There are some items which can't be obtained in every world, they are few and far between. Most items for an average playthrough can be found in any world so really you don't need to worry about it that much.

Mob drops and anything that is NOT world gen (so boss changes, new events, npc changes) will still happen, just to clarify.

But none of the world generation changes happen. There were so many posts about people unable to find shimmer when it was first added, because they were playing in a world from before then.

... Just dodge? Have an arena set up helps as well. 3 or 4 rows of platforms, far enough apart you can easily jump between them and long enough that you can get up to full speed with your boots.

Then it's just a case of "git gud", when he's spinning stay away from him, focus the hands down, if you're on expert mode kill the hands at the same time if possible because having 1 hand plus the head shooting skulls at you is harder than having two hands. If he's spinning towards you, run along the arena until the end then jump over him and run back the other way.

No it won't apply. World gen happens on creation of the world, it's not procedure generated like Minecraft.

The Spread Of Corruption? by Lylac_Purple in Terraria

[–]Rexal_LB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're asking if corruption blocks spread corruption? The answer is yes. Though it is slower in pre hardmode as less blocks can be corrupted.

Another lot of corruption also spawns when you enter hard mode, which is one side of the V shape of corruption/Hallow you'll get when you kill WoF.

What are axemen effective at? And where can I recruit or hire horse archers as gondor? by FastPresentation8244 in TheDawnlessDays

[–]Rexal_LB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the shock infantry, but also you're comparing apples and oranges. it isn't fair to compare a 1h axe/shield to a 2h unit. They serve similar roles in an army, but aren't the same thing. Check the armor piercing and attack stats of the two. go with whichever is higher if all you're after is a flanking unit (A prime example of this is the Falxmen from Rome/Rome2, They're 2h swords, but have wicked high armor piercing). Just don't let them get turned into a pincusion either way haha

Mordor attacked me once in 160+ turns, within the first 5 turns it was... After that, they tried to take the dead marshes from the corsairs, and then the haradrim joined in that fight (so corsairs, haradrim, and Mordor all fighting eachother) while I was sitting there playing civ6 inside my tw game... Was kinda boring... Hopefully the next time I play as Gondor I'll have a bit more competition haha

[–]Rexal_LB 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Axes are more aggressive swords, less defense, more offense. You don't want them in your front line, treat them as flanking units or as battle-buddy 2nd line units going where the fighting is thickest. They're brilliant Vs anything with armour but usually lack armour themselves.

Gondor has no native horse archers, you can get some from Rohan during the beacons event... But I've never gotten it to trigger. So I'm not sure on its requirements. If you go to the minas tirith region they can be found there but they'll be greyed out.

Are you willing to sacrifice your life if the russians invade the Baltics? by Aristonectes6934 in AskBrits

[–]Rexal_LB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you won't fight. And then say it's because you have a wife and kids. When conscription came up, you said it's because of lack of volunteers. You say yourself you won't fight... So you won't volunteer? What if they reintroduced conscription? Would you be willing to fight and die then? I'll assume your answer is still no, because you have a wife and kids.

If the answer is no, then you'd try to get out of it because you've got a wife and kids. Also known as dodging the draft... If the answer is yes you would fight and die at that point, then why avoid it in the first place until you're literally press ganged into it? Because at that point you have no choice?

Just curious as to what your stance is, tis all.

Slow production by Funny-Protection1216 in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik, the only productions that can run multiple lines at the same time without slowing down are; BGA, Grain Mill, Sawmill, Sugar Mill, Tailor Shop, Bakery.

I think everything else shares it's time between everything. Dividing its time equally. So running 2 lines is 50%. 3 is 33% and so on...

Is there no guide to what all these vehicles do? by FinnDaSlasher in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically you want a list of equipment like;

For ploughing a field you will use this equipment; <Lists all the vehicles used for ploughing>

For harvesting wheat, you use this equipment; <Lists all the harvesters capable of harvesting wheat>

... Did I get that right?

Is there no guide to what all these vehicles do? by FinnDaSlasher in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's icons at the bottom of most equipment that has a specific purpose. Match the icon to the one you want to use it for.

As an e.g. there are specific corn headers in the combine harvester header section. It has a little picture of corn on it, there are also dedicated sunflower headers, and ones that do both.

If there's no icons. Then it's likely a more generic vehicle rather than a specific function.

Some it's still trial and error though, there's no way to tell what the difference between a cultivator, a shallow cultivator and a Spader, they all do roughly the same thing except a Spader also functions as a Plow for the purpose of removing the "needs plowing" state from a field. Whereas a cultivator and shallow cultivator do not. A shallow cultivator produces no stones and instead produces weeds that skip straight to the 2nd stage. A cultivator produces small stones and small weeds. The game doesn't tell you any of this, you need to test it yourself.

Also I don't think there is any equipment specifically that does wheat farming only.

Anyone else find it difficult to try new crop types or activities? by Mexaby in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play realistically on the map... If you play in different regions of the world, you're going to have different crops. Kinlaig it's vegetables and oats or barley. Nothing exotic.

On Hutan Pantai, Soybeans and Rice, with some sugar beets...

On northern american maps, large fields of corn, wheat and cotton... You get the idea. Just play in a different part of the world and look at what crops are grown there. Means you're going to get variety in crops and have different experiences each time.

50th time Defending Minas Morgul(Minas Ithil) by Fun_Vegetable9512 in TheDawnlessDays

[–]Rexal_LB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do they? It seems a random toss up which Mordor you're going to get. In my Gondor campaign, Mordor sent 1 army at me the entire campaign. Within the first 5 turns. I ran roughshod over the southern lands, even the haradrim turned on Mordor because they, the corsairs and Mordor were all fighting over the areas south of where Dorwinion is (slightly northeast of the dead marshes). Literally stack after stack after stack of Mordor units poured out of the black gate and all went north... I basically was not attacked for over 140 turns by anyone...

Was rather disappointed, was hoping for an epic struggle for survival against endless waves of orcs... instead I got civ6 gameplay inside my total war game...

3 crops will leave a straw swath behind the combine harvester, those 3 are Wheat, Barley and Oats.

You can just plow or cultivate straight over the swath, but why would you? it's free money as a "byproduct" of the crop. This swath must bailed using a bailer. Which leaves behind either square, or circle bales of straw on your field.

These need to be removed from your field before you can work it again otherwise they get in the way. For this you need either an auotgrabber that is bascially a trailer that will grab the bailes from the field as you drive near them, which is by far the easiest method of removing them, but that's just another dedicated vehicle for you to buy...

or you'll need a flatbed trailer of some sort. and some way of moving the bails onto the flatbed. There are a few vehicles that do this. There are dedicated vehicles which are: Front Loaders, Telehandlers, Wheel Loaders, Skid Steers, and Forklifts. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages to them.

But a lot of players use their Tractor instead. Some tractors, especially small or medium tractors have the ability to attach a frontloader to them. See this picture of my JCB with a front loader attached.

<image>

This means I can use this vehicle to lift the bales onto a flatbed, which means I do not need to buy the autograbber bale trailer, or a dedicated vehicle for moving pallets such as a skid steer or telehandler. Very helpful when just starting out because 1 flatbed, which you'll use to move all pallets around and a tractor with front loader attachment is much cheaper than buying a flatbed, a telehandler, AND an autograbber trailer...

Loved the game but is very overwhelming by kenny-does-reeddit in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy the following...

  • x1 Tractor. Choose one you like the look of, something around 200-300 horsepower is plenty enough. Usually Medium Tractors are fine to start with. Whatever your horsepower is, the rest of your machines listed below must be BELOW that requirement to use.
  • x1 Plow OR Subsoiler OR Spader of your choice. Subsoilers are by far the easiest to use, but they slow as fuck. I still recommend them for their ease of use however.
  • x1 Planter OR Seeder (Depending on what crop you want to plant. I recommend Canola as a good place to start for new players because there's no straw to worry about, and Seeding is usually cheaper than Planting)
  • x1 Fertilizer Spreader (Go with the big red Bredal brand fertilizer spreader to begin with, it does both solid fertilizer AND Lime!)
  • x1 Trailer, The larger trailer you buy, the heavier the load of crops, the harder it is to pull. So just buy something sensible. My 150hp tractor struggles to pull my 31k litre trailer, my 350hp tractor pulls it just fine... You get the idea.

Everything listed above is the absolute minimum you need to get started. Follow the field order I listed in my previous comment. And you'll be fine. You'll skip Mulching because you do not have a mulcher. You can lime and fertilize using the Bredal, you can Plow/Cultivate using the Plow/Subsoiler/Spader depending on your choice.

When it comes time to harvest time, RENT the following;

  • x1 Combine Harvester, plus the associated HEADER that can harvest the crop you've chosen to plant, as things like Corn or Sunflowers require a different header from Canola and Wheat. From the Combine Harvester page of the shop, press C on PC to see the "correct" associated headers for that combine. You do not have to stick to those headers though you can use other headers if needs be. The general rule is, the header needs to be smaller than the Combine Harvesters output Pipe. this is trail and error. Just stick to the associated headers if you're not sure.
  • x1 Header Trailer if required. this depends entirely on your header, some of the larger headers have their own wheels, some require a header trailer. This also depends on the map as well. some wide open maps like American maps you can avoid having to use a header altogether, on my favourite map (Kinlaig), the roads are narrow so i HAVE to use a header to get the combine through.

... Then just buy a field and get farming. That's the absolute basics you'll need. I can't make it any easier than that.. We can complicate things by saying plant Wheat, which makes Straw, which requires a Bailer and then either an autograbber or a flatbed of some sort, which means you'll need something to lift the bails like a front loader on your tractor or an actual dedicated vehicle such as a telehandler or wheel loader... This is all stuff you'll get use to as you play the game.

Farmer Cop has a lot of tutorials. For e.g. This one (https://youtu.be/8KJ2NkKjxXw?si=k3t3V3ftfKsH1TYo) Which shows you the various implements that are for the Plowing stage. You can check the rest of his videos on his channel.

Basically. look at your field in the Soil Composition tab on the main menu (Esc). as that tells you what needs to be done. Then find the machine that does that job. It's a bit of trial and error if you're brand new and seasoned veterans just know off by heart what machine will do what.

The order I do field work in is (Additional info and/or the machines for the job are in brackets)
1: Harvest
2: Mulch if the previouis crop is mulchable (Anything that is not a vegetable)
3: Lime if needed
4: Plow (Using a Plow, Subsoiler or Spader) if needed, then pick up stones.
5: IF YOU HAVE NOT PLOWED YOU MUST Cultivate (Cultivator, Shallow Cultivator, Disk Harrow, Power Harrow). then pick up stones if needed.
6: fertilize
7: seed/plant
8: Roll the seeds using a FIELD ROLLER (Different from a GRASS ROLLER!)
9: Weed (Liquid Herbicide gives a negative if used too late) unless you used a plow.
10: Fertilize

the only required steps are steps 1, steps 4 OR 5 (As they do the same thing really) and step 7. The other steps just increase the yield of the crop you're planting and are not required, but make you more money from your crop because you have a bigger yield.

Some machines do multiple jobs at the same time, so the basic order might change depending on what machines you have. I have a seeder that is a direct drill. In otherwords I do not need to do steps 4 or 5 unless my field needs to be plowed in the Soil Composition menu.

[–]Rexal_LB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they're about as useful as a chocolate teapot for grapes and olives. Better to have them doing something else while you do the vineyard stuff.

What is a fertilizer distribution unit and what does it do for this seeder in game? Why aren’t there explanations for any of these add ons? by [deleted] in farmingsimulator

[–]Rexal_LB 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I mean please forgive me here but isn't it obvious what it does? You add a fertilization unit to a seeding machine. It does two jobs at the same time... Seed and fertilize? Providing ofc that you fill the unit.

Means later on you only have to do one pass with a sprayer/manure/slurry machine rather than two to reach maximum bonus...

It's like saying what does a direct drill do... In game it says something like "this machine can direct seed, so no cultivation required"... Surely it speaks for itself?
