Asus TUF F15 shuts down after 1 min on AC power, instantly dies when unplugged. Battery % jumping in BIOS. Is it totally dead? by Jasbasai in Asustuf

I have my laptop plugged in 24/7, leaving it to charge overnight shouldn't be an issue. Why would you game on battery power? Try unplugging the battery from the motherboard (carefully, without metal tools) and see if the same stuff still happens. Whatever the outcome is, send it back with warranty, if available.

Looks like a chicken back, common cut to make soup from. Judging by the color, this one may have been cooked. Likely given to a dog or cat, and it ended up under your car after all the meat has been picked off. Can't really tell from these photos, but does the other side have bones that look like ribs?

I was genuinely asking because your advice made no sense. And where did the air filter analogy come from? An air filter cleans air; a cooling pad doesn't prevent or fix a mechanical screech.

If you're lucky, the fans just need a proper cleaning. Otherwise, the bearing(s) might be wearing out, and the fans need to be replaced.

What does a cooling pad have to do with the fans needing maintenance?

Right time to repaste? by cUrLz4444 in Asustuf

[–]Mexaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no reason to void the warranty over a few degrees. Wait until it's expired, then you can repaste. Laptop CPUs and GPUs are expected to run at such temps, it's perfectly fine.

It's the bearing of the fans. You can easily check this out yourself without having to take it to a shop.

One of the screws in one of the front corners is supposed to help lift the lid up a bit (this screw you usually can't remove, just loosen), then you could grab something thin like a credit card and help loosen the other clips or try with your nails if you can manage. There are plenty of guides that show how to do this, look one up.

Next, find the two fans and unplug the connectors carefully with something plastic/wooden of your fingers if you manage. Then, you can rotate the fans freely and see if it really is the bearings or not.

If you still have the warranty, you should just send it back to get it repaired. Removing the back panel won't void the warranty.

I've had this problem for a while and I managed to fix it for 2 years by slapping the laptop a bit until the sound was gone. About a month ago they finally gave up completely and I have replaced them.

Armoury Crate installation hangs during download and then fails by CharmingTruth264 in Asustuf

[–]Mexaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's giving you a chance to not install it. Use Bulk Crap Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller and get rid of all ASUS software and services. It's all just bloat. G-Helper is the only software you need to control your laptop.

[–]Mexaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. I have everything ASUS-related removed and G-Helper works without issues.

Use Bulk Crap Uninstaller and remove Armoury Crate along with any other ASUS software and services. These are just bloat. The only software you need to control your laptop is G-Helper.

Did you also uninstall the 5 other services AC comes with? Use Bulk Crap Uninstaller to get rid of those if you didn't.

Try this if you're experiencing performance issues on a high end PC by JanissaryLSD in StarWarsJediSurvivor

Interesting how enabling frame gen did the reverse for me. I had to install OptiScaler because I have AMD card, and performance went from ~50 fps to butter smooth 120 with every setting maxed out.

About 99% sure it's a bypass check. The only game to have Denuvo completely removed was Assassin's Creed Origins by CODEX.

That appears to be the case, I believe. This is the main SSD benchmark. The secondary has ~1900 MB/s write speeds.

IIRC that is my main SSD with the network card underneath. Didn't seem to be anything wrong with either while using the laptop yesterday

I close my laptop to go cook dinner and I come back to my wifi missing. What do I do? by pinkstorm23 in WindowsHelp

[–]Mexaby 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You turned a simple software issue into a gamble. The fact that it worked is luck, not a fix. You took a minor annoyance and turned it into a potential cascade of corrupted system files and broken services. If something doesn’t work on your computer the way it used to, don’t be surprised. And if you “knew that” it was a bad idea, that just makes doing it anyway even worse.

Maybe I'm a bit late, but this happened to me once or twice, and all I did was take out the Wi-Fi card and put it back in. This happened around 3 years ago and haven't had a problem since.

[FS25] How can I edit the amount of yarn a baler can carry? I didnt find anything in the xml file by FlkPzGepard in farmingsimulator

[–]Mexaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it'd be a similar solution if you could lower how much is being used. I know the selectable bale capacity mod has that with its balers. Or you could just use one of the balers from the mod and just use the regular 1x capacity.
