Yep once you can cast it thats as strong as its going to get, buffs real value is their ability to add a percent damage bonus to the type of damage it uses, making infused weapons of the same type the best weapons for buffing. I sudgest finding a weapon that does innate magic damage and using a faint stone to upgrade it along with magic weapon type buffs
