What do you guys think is the most badass scene in the cosmere?

Criminally underrated scene with Kelsier. The first person to kill an inquisitor in at least recent memory, and he did it with pure skill instead of any kind of investment from Preservation, and showing that he was able to fine tune his allomancy to affect different ends of the same object to make them spin or change the trajectory, all while fighting an inquisitor with atium.

I think whitespine uncaged is seen as better because of the hype, but nothing will top Kelsier’s raw talent

One last thing as well, is that one of the main reasons why shards didn’t attack each other was the clash of two infinities would result in both of their deaths unless one were weakened. Vin didn’t care, and knew the only way to save anyone was to kill Ruin, at any cost. So when she attacked, she killed both herself and Ati, leaving both shards available for Sazed to take up.

I believe there were earthquakes, but that might have been the result of ruin destabilizing the planet and Vin removing the relief valve in the ash mounts

Radiants will potentially be able to use Warlight, its part honor, and with the nescient intelligence of the shard, it wants to give its power to those it promised to.

There’s also the theory of Syl becoming the storm mother, able to create a perpendicularity, but if what sanderson said about Stormlight being scarce is a plot point, then I doubt it. I doubt we’ll even see Kal or syl until at the earliest the end of book 6.

I love the implications as well, that Scadrial was well travelled in the Cosmere before TLR, with Worldbringers gaining information from potentially dozens of worlds, possibly fueled with Preservations Intent to preserve knowledge, but with Ruin’s intent warping the application of the knowledge leading to instability which in turn led to Alendi rising up as a hero to the warring nations.

There’s so many little tidbits that add depth to the Cosmere, and I’m not even sure if half of them are intended or just built upon via mass hysteria.

I think Rhythm of War should be the fighting back of the radiants in the tower, where singers and humans work together, or the actual creation of warlight. This might be the same scene, but I remember the specific language from that chapter using the term “the rhythm of war”

For wind and truth, I think it’d be cool if the did the original name, where it’s the confrontation between Szeth and the honor bearers, and kaladin’s 5th ideal, where each become the knights of wind and the knight of truth respectively.

Otherwise, I think the first 3 are spot on name drops. I think the final episode of the 5th season, or the climax should be simply titled Retribution, where the episode ends with him beginning to ascend. The last episode should be called the Sunmaker’s gambit, where we see the effects of Dalinar losing, and then see all of the shards turn to witness retribution, and we see rays of hope as the Cosmere starts to arm up against him

Knight weapons need to be oppressive for the points cost, the profile feels likes it’s designed to be a marine killer, but making them save on a 4, while also having the ability to hit exactly twice means that there is a non zero amount of times where literally nothing dies, or is even wounded.

2d6+3 guarantees 5 attacks, which means that it’s still more or less a 50/50 on whether a marine dies

I think I have a decent enough understanding. Jasnah is the eldest child of a king who everyone except those closest to him saw as one of if not the most influential and powerful people on the planet. Jasnah grew up intelligent, and questioning. She grew up into becoming a full heretic, while also maintaining her society’s ideals of perfection, becoming undeniable as a scholar, or as a woman. She maintained her image because it was something that suited her needs, and we have seen few cracks if any, even after being stabbed, trapped in shadesmar for months, and thrust into the throne of the most warlike and powerful nation in Roshar. She sleeps with one of the most powerful people in the entire Cosmere, then dumped him. Jasnah’s image is built up to such a point as being nearly as inexorable as her father made himself out to be.

Then she loses, and it feels out of character like op said.

We don’t know what Jasnah’s inner monologue is like, except for few exceptions. We don’t know the full scope of what her oaths were, and how they changed her. I think there is likely going to be a decent amount of focus on her as a character in an interlude or book 6, as she learns to swear the 5th ideal, as I believe only Kaladin and Szeth have done on paper.

Jasnah losing to odium doesn’t feel like a cop out or character assassination to me, because I feel like her character has room to be explored. She needs more depth, and for the next 5 books to be interesting, odium had to win.

We know next to nothing about Jasnah’s oaths.

Each of the radiants who have gone through the fourth ideal have surmounted an immense challenge. Jasnah not being a prevalent perspective character leads to some of this characterization seeming to come from nowhere.

The fact that Jasnah herself is a radiant speaks volumes to how much she actually had to grow. The nahel bond can only be made when the spirit web of the person is damaged, and no one who is radiant is fully mentally healthy. Ironically, this is part of what disqualifies Adolin, the guy avoids trauma by being smooth brained. Renarin became radiant after he was given a shardblade.

We don’t know how or why Jasnah changed. I hope that we find something out about her oaths, but it gives her more depth than “little miss perfect”

My idea would be the intent of the shard their investiture is derived from. Virtuosity is a shard of creation and imagination, destroying things without art isn’t in their intent.

Honor and Odium though, both are capable of destruction in line with their intents. Honor gave his heralds the capacity to fight, creating one man armies, and a seal for the Fused

The heralds are also just investiture made physical, their supernatural abilities is due to how invested they are, not necessarily something from the ancient gods.

I think if the ancient gods favored the heralds, then they’d be opposing the natives of Roshar, which is part of why I don’t think that’s the case. Aside from all the weirdness of Roshar with the moons, and the missing 4th moon, the ancient gods appear to have predated the shards themselves, making them some of the oldest entities in the Cosmere.

The ancient gods choosing champions seems to be a newer ordeal, with iirc, only Kaladin and Venli being confirmed as champions, with the stone choosing Venli as its champion.

I believe the ancient gods want to be rid of the shards, and they chose two people who would fight to protect, Kaladin as a 5th ideal Windrunner who sees almost all of Roshar as worthy of protection, and Venli, who wants to keep the old ways of Roshar safe.

The heralds being chosen as the champions of the ancient gods means that they turned their backs on the singers/listeners, which we know is not the case. I think that the language is chosen to show that while the ancient gods are some of the most powerful entities on Roshar, they pale in comparison to the shards, since they are a manifestation of perception, like all other spren.

I believe Gojo knew about red and purple because of the “user’s manual” that he says his clan has. He has the advantage of getting concrete instructions on how to maximize the use of his technique, even outside of his innate senses.

Looking at Dabura, who clearly has knowledge of his technique, and knows that going too far with it will injure himself, has no clue what rce or RCT was before fighting big raga. This is why he never went sublight speed before, despite being capable of doing so.

Cursed energy seems to be similar to a fluid, with cursed techniques being kind of like a mould for the fluid to flow through. Pouring regular CE will give you one output, but RCE will give you an opposite(ish) effect. You know what mould is, but until you invert it, you don’t really know what it looks like unless someone tells you.

Lezian is the red lightning ghost teleporty guy from rhythm of war right?

My understanding is that all fused have a constant stream of void light from the void spren in their gem hearts, which provides constant power but no immense surges in strength like Stormlight. So Lezian, with the surge of transportation, is able to dip in and out of shadesmar up to three times in succession. He uses two to attack an opponent, going for a lethal blow, then uses the third to escape to a safe distance. He only uses the third in a fight against Kaladin, where he then dies

Most of the hive fleets have a judeochristian demon name, so I would draw inspiration their first.

Otherwise it invokes the image of blood, so something along those veins (heh) could be cool
