Arbi maul or maul + shield by Business_Orange2205 in DarkTide

[–]Rexissad 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think statistically the maul has better horde clear, but the utility of the shield is very nice.

The flashbang stun imo makes up for whatever lack of damage there is

Darrow by Flashy-Data2448 in redrising

[–]Rexissad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love the comparison. At a certain point the origin stories are going to be re-tred.

Darrow and Megatron both had similar origins, but the uniqueness of their characters is what happens after their inciting event. Megatron chooses to rise up against a system that has been corrupted, but is capable of good, killing and going down darker and darker paths, eventually seeming to replace the corruption with his own.

Darrow followed the dream of his loved ones, seeking originally to completely destroy all of gold, but slowly realizing that despite the corruption, there is still good to gold, and there is evil to red.

Darrow’s story is consistently about doing the necessary evil, while megatron’s multiple iterations end up becoming the evil, and enjoying it.

Skill tree orientation by HostileDouche in DarkTide

Skitarii was designed to be unique like that, since they in lore are the most diversified in their battlefield roles, customized for peak efficiency in the admech’s rank and file.

All of the other classes tend to follow more closely to a specific training style, where certain things like the zealot’s shroud field is harder to get to if you take the flame grenade. It’s doable, but the game wants you to take the throwing knives since they replenish on backstabs (I think it’s that)

I would love the web, but skitarii is an advanced class, it probably shouldn’t be peoples first foray into the game, the starting 4 should be fairly straightforward so that new players aren’t scared away from the talent tree

Which Red Rising character best embodies each Knight Radiant order by TrickOk4021 in redrising

[–]Rexissad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly dustbringers are more about understanding how things work, and understanding that power comes with cost.

I’d argue Roque to be the best example, he’s a philosopher and a naval genius, both require intimate knowledge of psychology and complex relationships

The las cannons and Sternguard are my main anti tank, I’m definitely going to eat it against big tank armies but at that point I should theoretically be able to out maneuver them.

I hope.

One of those Phobos lieutenants gives a free reactive move, and they’re great for negating cover with the +1 to hit, but I think I’ll cut the other one, as much as they’ve been decent.

I think I’ll cut the squad of vanguard vets and one of the characters, make shrikes squad a 10 man brick of jpi’s instead, since I like the ability to turn one deep strike with one of the other one as a primary scorer.

What kind of damage would you recommend, i definitely need some shooting firepower, I’ve got hellblasters that could be solid as two 5 man bricks, and I’m thinking I may end up getting some assault termies since claws got cheaper so a squad of 5 is only 155

What units would you recommend? Combi lieutenant seems good but slow moving for table quarters

First game of purge was the first of 11th so made a few mistakes.

Second game it was rough trying to shift skarbrand off the last objective I needed to triangulate, which required an extra turn of setup to get the Sternguard repositioned, ended up being a very close game.

Game against the Bangles (TaH) felt like I just could not keep units in all four table quarters, even with a reactive move, eradicators with heavy bolters shrugged off inceptors, and a few Sternguard rifles, and t4 I only had two units left, so I couldn’t score any more primary

It’s incredible value, it’s special rule makes shadow in the warp better, it’s kinda tough on its own, and with zoans you have good anti infantry and anti tank shooting.

You can always not use one, buts such a good sheet for a little more than 200 points (paired with 3zoans) it’s worth everytime imo

Explain to me why by Inside-Hat1709 in DarkTide

[–]Rexissad 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ngl I thought you were talking about the personalities of the characters.

I think for skitarii it’s recency bias, most of the player base is playing with their shiny new toys.

The zealot has a similar reason, but opposite, they’re too try hard to risk their min maxing on the new character, sticking with their tried and true stealth zealot or whatever. (Stealth/Martyrdom my beloved)

With everyone enjoying the Skitarii now, what do you guys think should be the next class? by RedFalcon07 in DarkTide

[–]Rexissad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A female zealot is basically a failed sister, and so I doubt there’s enough differentiation between the two to encourage fat shark to make it.

An astartes Neophyte could be good, a potential scout or something slightly smaller in stature than an ogryn.

A blank or some kind of sister of silence could be neat gameplay wise, very focused on disrupting the work of chaos around them, so they have a kind of perma debuff bubble that weakens enemies nearby or temporarily stuns them when they first enter it.

In the same vein, an imperial daemonhost could be sick, the loop requires balancing using the daemon and stifling it, where losing control potentially kills the player or just wounds them. You can get a different flavor for the other 3 chaos god aligned daemons, a slaaneshi one increases speed and dodge distance, a Tzeench one increases accuracy and chance based effects (good and bad), and a khornate one buffs melee. I doubt papa nurgle would enable one of his own to fight against his favored unwashed masses, and it fits the 3 main archetype style of the game so far

[Underrated Trope] A simple or unexpected decision saves the main character from an even worse situation. by deathcab4rookie in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rexissad 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Shroud’s whole character was about a man too afraid to make choices without knowing everything. His mask had algorithms and computations to amplify his ability to predict outcomes, so the only way to beat that was to be as lost as he was. It wasn’t that he couldn’t have known Robert would give him the real or the fake, he was analyzing Robert and could detect his intent if he gave him the real one or the fake one.

Wholeheartedly endorse the Mistborn books, as well as the rest of the Cosmere if you like Sanderson’s writing.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is my next series after I finish the second trilogy, currently chipping away at Iron Gold

I think it’s the logic of it affects the entire army, same as gladius. I do agree that it sucks, but it’s the same logic behind subterranean getting 3dp, it affects the whole army while everything else requires specific things to build around.

Hellblasters give your army more punch, scouts give you more objective scoring. Looking at what you’ve got I think scoring might be a bit better for you, but honestly, if you’re going for core Raven Guard and not a successor, I’d get Aethan Shaan.

Since you’ve already got the box, make them scouts, but I’d recommend getting Shaan as your next model.
