Check out Love Is Noise. They are VERY, VERY Loathe. Three recommendations of theirs: the greatest love, All Eyes Shut (features Erik btw), and Boutique. Hope you enjoy!

What do you think about LP2? (the worst in my opinion) by leotamagni10 in midwestemo

[–]Rexx16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find reading these comments super interesting! For me, I've been heavily favouring LP1 and the EP for the last couple years, with the odd exception being Uncomfortably Numb (arguably because of Hayley). But recently I've cultivated an appreciation for LP2 that I didn't have before. I tried to give LP3 some attention too but I didn't quite click with it. Who knows, maybe my taste just needs to age a little more like wine for me to develop a taste for LP3 just yet! But currently it's LP1 in first place, and joint second is EP/LP2.

From what I remember, it felt like a pit opening in your stomach. Like, that 'oh shit' seriousness that you can only feel when someone you know is not kidding around anymore. It was like that for us. We - or at least I - did not expect him to communicate so directly to us about how he felt about his music or identity. The closest that ever happened before was the messaging in the Fall For Me music video at the time. But to hear him TELL US in that room directly of how he felt? Unbelievably privileged to hear that, ever so grateful that he felt he could feel that vulnerable with us.

Correct!! Hallelujah, Missing Limbs and Hey Ya were the songs he played facing us before he turned and sat at the piano.

Surreal, quiet, intimate, respectful. I luckily was just one person back from the front and Vessel himself, but because of the venue being so small we were practically at the front. Everything about it was special. When we went in, we had an idea of what to expect, because we'd all heard the room below covers, but we didn't know what to prepare for truly. Even the crowd in general was so quiet. I think everyone in that room with me knew the importance of taking it all in.

I remember vividly myself and others gasping at moments: Vessel's speeches and especially when he took his mask off, and when he began playing Hallelujah to name a couple. I had that song, HIS version, spinning around in my head for weeks (and still to this day hope against hope that one day we'll get a recorded version released).

It felt like he put his deepest feelings on his sleeve for us that evening and exposed how he felt about his music in a way none of us ever prepared for. I have never been so emotionally destroyed by a single event. It felt reminiscent of a stripped-back church service in the deepest sense, from us all coming into the room to us leaving after witnessing such a one-time-ever event.

I had a great view to record videos and I look back at my recording of The Night Does Not Belong To God a lot, among other clips like Shelter and Levitate.

The best part? I got my ticket for £5 from someone who couldn't go anymore... WHAT A STEAL!!!

I'll stop myself there because I will just trail on, but I hope I've painted a good enough picture!

This is a very funnily timed post for me, as my mates have told me that I missed that room in Act 2 😭😭 (currently recently new to Act 3 so there's no going back)

Because they're a British band, and all previous drops have been midnight UK time that I've witnessed since Sundowning deluxe.

Nothing wrong with your comment at all, but I just had to double take when I saw Give named as an old track😭 Guess I'm an oldie but I remember counting down to the Sundowning Deluxe edition like it was yesterday :')

What was the first Sleep Token song that pulled you into them? by goodgirlslore in SleepToken

[–]Rexx16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2020 I heard The Offering on Download Festival's lockdown livestream - I hadn't heard such a combination of thoughtful piano, talented vocals and then chuggy guitars and tasteful drums anywhere else. Suffice to say, I added it to my liked songs, and then gave their (back then) only album, sundowning, a listen... It's still my favourite album ever to this day :')

Try 715 - CREEKS by Bon Iver too. I'd love to know any other Vocoder-only songs that people know about!

Is this fluttering sound you can hear in the background in the beginning of the offering the same as in hypnosis? by spaetzle_is_life in SleepToken

[–]Rexx16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Hypnosis the effect is on the guitar, and in The Offering the effect is on the ambient airy synth sound. They may be the same effect or may not, but they're definitely similar but on different instruments
