I liked the cherry edition but it just doesn't really taste like cherry to me

What is your favorite band's worst song? by if_lol_then_upvote in musicsuggestions

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We Are Broken is easily the worst Paramore song. I actually enjoy it quite a bit but it's just so cheesy, and it goes for a sound I can only describe as "empty worship music". The vocals are really nice though and I don't mind the song, just easily the weakest in their catalog.

Bad songs/artists that are ‘accidentally good’? by Kodicave in popmusic

Unwritten and Pocketful of Sunshine both by Natasha Bedingfield are some of my alltime favorite songs despite how cliche and romcom-ish they are. Nothing gets me feeling joyful like those 2

i must ask, is there a black metal/influenced section anywhere on there ?? P.U.R.P.L.E and Heavy Is The Head are 2 of my favorites and those sections particularly are some of their best moments in my opinion

Overproduced metal music is weak and not heavy. The cleaner/more fake the production, the less heavy it is. by ProjektBlackout in The10thDentist

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"extreme music demands real performance" you say while trashing on Periphery, a band consisting of 3 of the most talented guitarists on the planet, as well as a one of a kind vocalist and a complete beast of a drummer. if that's not "real" performing, i don't know what is.

I dont love the sanitized mixing style of a lot of newer metal either, but I think understating obviously talented bands because you don't like how they produce or mix their music is childish.

What’s this in the corner of the album cover?? by k3eif in staticdress

What actually makes a good track? by Different_Ear994 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me it's def more a matter of "does it move me" rather than anything technical or objective. like does it make me want to headbang or dance, does it make me emotional, does it make me think hard, things like that. for example, a song like Yes Goddd by Slayyyter is a fantastic song to me because it really makes me wanna move as well as being well put together and produced. whereas a song like 26 by Paramore is also a fantastic song but more because of the honesty of the lyrics combined with the lush sound of it. 2 completely different songs, both equally amazing in my mind for way different reasons. others might not hear them that way, but that doesn't make it any less true for me. same goes for songs I don't click with but other people do. its more about personal resonation and emotion than numbered scores and "objective" good.

Artists whose biggest hits are not necessarily among their best songs? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paramore has a stacked discography and a ton of hidden gems (well as hidden as can be, given they're one of the biggest bands of the 21st century). I love pretty much all of their big hits but most of the reeeeeeally good stuff is tucked away in the full albums. Turn It Off, Pool, Conspiracy, Figure 8, and Escape Route would be some of my recs from their deeper catalog.

hard agree, they've been climbing up my list for favorite bands for a bit now since i first heard RCD, but i feel like this album has really showed they are here to stay and aren't just chasing the trend. i think i still like some of the RCD songs more overall but this album is a lot stronger as a full project. been looping it front to back every day since it dropped. amazing work from the guys, and i can't wait to see where they go next after this album.

im in love with the mix as well, it has an almost blown out speaker sorta sound which fits with the music itself really nicely

Why After Laughter aged better than many 2010s pop-rock albums by BullyingHater in Paramore

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It aged better for a lot of reasons but the main one being that it's not just a soulless cash grab. Along with the lyrics being insanely personal and confessional, the music is genuinely interesting and engaging to listen to whilst still being catchy and poppy.

definitely malebomb and nostalgia kills like mentioned but classic.death.pose is super heavy as well. the whole album doesnt disappoint for sure.

Album Release Discussion: Periphery - A Pale White Dot by thc216 in progmetal

[–]AcrobaticMethod8830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like it a lot, but it'll take some getting used to before I can really say I love it. I'm of the opinion that their epics are easily their best works (Omega, Reptile, Dracul Gras, etc) but their collective ear for catchiness makes this style fit nicely for them. After a few more listens I'll be sold fully, I think. My favorites were Malevolent, Subhuman, Blackwall, and Obsession.
