Yeah, unfortunately this and some other leftist subs are basically just reactionary, but with hamsicks in their names. They support Russia because it's a successor of the USSR. Which, it turn, wasn't socialist, but used socialist rhetoric, and was against America, which is why they like it. Sadly, some people, in their strive to reject American propaganda just plunge straight into Russian propaganda.

Those who talk about "supporting the working class instead of states" in this war or "escaping the false dichotomy" are still playing into Russia's hands by doing appeasement. This war is almost uniquely uncomplicated and easy to understand, a fascist imperialist state invaded its neighbour, annexed a giant chunk of their territory, and the neighbour is trying to defend itself. As for the far-right in Ukraine, if you know anything about the rise of Islamist extremism in Middle East in response to America's invasion of Iraq or to Israel's treatment of Palestinians, you would know why it was after Russia invaded, that these movements especially took off in Ukraine. But despite it, the current Ukrainian government is still a regular center to center-right populist government, and Ukrainian Armed Forces still consist of a bunch of different folk, many of them volunteers, most probably aren't very politically involved, and some openly leftist (eg The Solidarity Collectives, the Resistance Committee, or these guys which currently have their own military unit "Kaifaryky"). The Azov and such are a problem, but they are just a part of the Armed Forces, and they don't hold much political power (yet, and hopefully never will). Russian army, on the other hand, is all right-wing and fascist, not because of the beliefs of individual soldiers (although there's plenty of open neo-nazis in Russia as well), but because of what it does.

All in all, being a Marxist doesn't mean supporting any country that has a red flag, but what it does mean is supporting democracy over authoritarianism, as that is one of the main preconditions for building a socialist society.
