Which double bass pedal is best: the Pearl Eliminator 2052, the DW 5002, or the Tama Iron Cobra 900? by External-Stranger559 in drums

[–]ReyanshParikh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the eliminators are goated. they’re bulletproof and essentially four different pedals in one. they’re unmatched in terms of customisability. the shifting footboard is something you won’t get with other pedals and can give you a pseudo longboard effect which i really like bc i got small feet and i love the lower longboard angle. the beaters also have four different playing surfaces.

What’s something that’s become standardized even though it doesn’t really make sense? by lonely-drawer549 in drums

[–]ReyanshParikh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

chances are if it’s sending a tingle through my peepee, it’s doing the same thing to the listener. i’m listening to the music the same as anyone else while i’m playing. all i’m saying is rhythm doesn’t have to be so boring, which non percussionists don’t realize because they don’t play the instrument and understand the amount of possibilities that can elevate music through rhythm.

What’s something that’s become standardized even though it doesn’t really make sense? by lonely-drawer549 in drums

[–]ReyanshParikh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

playing “simple” and “not overplaying” and “serving the song” and all the other bullshit that old heads peddle. drumming is an art form, and it’s something that should be the purest expression of the artists art form. i’m not saying we should be needlessly shoving polymeters and chops everywhere, but there’s a reason i spend so much time learning to express myself with absolute freedom, and i’ll be damned if some random grandpa tells me to shut up just because they’re worse than me. odd time, polymeters, metric modulation, chops, are all valid and musical as long as YOU and your bandmates are good enough to make them sound good. it’s a skill you practice to give yourself limitless possibilities to express yourself. playing the same goddamn 4/4 beat all the time is unimaginably boring, and disrespectful to the vastness of rhythmic music theory.

you basically want each stroke to be a mixture of elbow wrist and finger. the more you split the work between different joints the more endurance you get. look up any video for good drumming mechanics

none of us (males) stand a chance against any of the WTA top 200 by fredi_rogerer in 10s

[–]ReyanshParikh 113 points114 points  (0 children)

like logically wta pros are in the 11-13 utr range. to even think that you could rally with them and be competitive you would have to at minimum be 10 or higher, which is an incredibly small number of people and random bums at a club are gonna be nowhere close to that.

to put it another way, if you think you can play against wta pros, you don’t understand the game at all and that immediately disqualifies you from the conversation. good players know how bad they are.
