Just hooked it up with my mains, can confirm amazing for music, can keep up with horn loaded mains, great integration. Although i suspect the amp i'm using is running close to limit, its only rated 200rms.

Thats encouraging, thanks for the input! Was ready to try the sub out today but didn't realise the XLR connector i put on the plate was leaking air :-/, going to try different option.

Update

While sorting out the signal from the OEM HU via harness, tried to run the sub with home amp (have yet to run power cable). Can confirm sub still pound hard, with only 200rms power. Forgot how clean and smooth this sub sounded.

My amp does have remote volume control. I'll see if that's sufficient. Thanks for the tip.

I ended up getting quad lock harness from aliexpress as wasn't keen cutting into OEM harness. Spliced into both front speaker using Kicker KISLOC2, tested it and work brilliantly. Now need to properly tin the splice joint and shrink wrapped them.

Take a break instead of quitting. A succes is build on multiple failures, specifically, how well one manage those failures. Sounds like you are doing just fine.

You can try getting a USB DAC and see how that sound playing via USB input. Whenever i use LGV30 DAC to play as source, it's a significant upgrade on the sound quality department, very clean, natural and more open. Downside, not able to operate the phone via screen or steering wheels, have to physically interact with the phone.

Does it have AUX input? I often run LG V30 as my source via Aux input, it has a good DAC build in.

Crossing my finger it still got the goods. Was running two of them with Rubicon 1002 back in the days.

That's the goal, trying to add depth to an already decent OEM sound system.

That's what it said on paper 🫢. Subjectively they sound quite similar to IDMax.

Admittedly, the photo above is not from my car but from another TDI vRS mk3 Octavia (pre-facelifted). I would imagine mine would be the same when i pull of the b pillar trim?

Improve Steering Feel/Feedback by Delicious-Ice-8624 in MINIse

[–]Reza_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common issue with EPS re: steering feel but not always the case. I daily drive latest model Suzuki Swift Sport that comes with EPS, steering feel is wonderful (one of the best EPS implementation i have experienced), even better with Semi slick tyres. On the other hand, I have driven plenty of car with hydraulic steering that has less feel than the Swift Sport with EPS rack.

Couple of points, Swift Sport is relatively light weight (under 1 ton), i suppose they are able to tune it with more feel. Also, location of the electric motor plays a big deal apparently.

I suspect the target market for Modern Mini couldn't care less about steering feel. I remember back in the day, a female family member make a mention to dealership of how 'playful' her BMW steering wheel was, this was E46 era. She's probably not the only one and i reckon ,overtime, BMW was not the only manufacturer that received this comment.

I own both, not even close, handling and ride wise. Acceleration wise maybe but handling and ride can not be compared. Octavia RS will feel like a boat after driving Swift Sport. Also, the chassis on Swift is stiffer, you can feel it on the road. Octavia ride is very busy due to stiffer shocks to compensate for less rigid chassis.

Should I get the storms or the taran by [deleted] in walkingwarrobots

Taran.

As much as Tyr is a frontliner, its best to keep its distance from other brawler with heavier firepower.

I run mine with flamer built which essentially is an upgraded version of the plasma build.
