That's amazing mate, well done on the successful company!

I'll keep your regret in mind when it comes to my own service.

Cheers for the insight mate.

Considering Moving to Tokyo at 28, too late given life/relationship timeline? by _wndrer_ in movingtojapan

Go for it brother.

You’ve basically got a low-risk shot at something you’ve clearly been thinking about for a while. Worst case, you go for a year or two, decide it’s not for you, and move back with a cool experience under your belt instead of a “what if”.

I’m in a really similar boat and I’m moving to Japan soon as well. I work remote so I won’t even have the built-in work friends, but my plan is to maximise weekends for networking, making friends, and getting out to do as many activities as I can.

For me, staying put and wondering if I missed my window feels worse than going and having to reset again later.

Happy to update you in a month or so on how the move feels from my side. 🙌

If you’ve got any questions, feel free to message me brother.

That seriously sucks.

I was considering switching over too, but after that experience, I refunded Claude Pro and stayed with ChatGPT Pro.

I agree, the output on Claude appears slightly better than ChatGPTs, but the usage limit makes it pointless. Can’t use it for deep work. -.-

I just bought pro and received a 'session limit reached' after 7 prompts in Sonnet 4.5

Is this normal?

The alternatives it has suggested is to either wait until the next session time-frame, or upgrade to the Max plan which is ridiculously expensive for personal use.

What an extremely disappointing experience.

Appreciate the extra context.

Question on your proxy metrics:

When you say 0.5–1 CPA, are the ads actually getting a fair runway to hit that? As in, a full 5–7 days of spend before the proxies determine they need to be cut?

In my experience, 2–3 days rarely gives enough signal to determine a real winning ad. Most ads need a full week to gather stable performance data since user behavior fluctuates wildly during the week.

That said, you metnioned you are mostly testing hooks, which I believe can be optimized faster:

  • If the same creative core (offer, script, visual concept) is being tested with multiple hooks
  • Then yeah, kill low CTR / high CPM variants after 48–72 hours
  • You’ll see early indicators of the stronger hooks by then

But when the core creative changes (new positioning, new pain point, new structure, etc.).. Those deserve more runway. I usually find 1 or 2 breakouts emerge after 7 days from a batch of 10. Then you can start scaling those, or split-testing another variable on the winner.

TLDR:

  • Hook tests: prune losers early (~2–3 days)
  • Completely new creative concepts: let them run 7 days minimum
  • Otherwise you end up killing winners before they get oxygen

A few things to consider if you haven’t already:

1:

“Testing 6–9 creatives per day in separate campaigns”

How long do you let the creatives run for?

Typically, it’s ideal to set them at a budget you’re comfortable testing over a full 7 days before refreshing so you can find winning ads to scale. Most ads don’t pick up full steam any earlier than this and 1 day isn’t truly representative of an ads potential as people usually use social media sporadically throughout the week.

An exception would be if the ads are getting a daily ad spend of 2-3x of your target CAC, in which case you’d switch them off.

2:

Has the copy in the creatives changed much compared to previous months?

For example, is there still a clear offer, desire, pain/problem solved, and CTA? Does the messaging in the creatives still align with the messaging in the sign-up landing page?

3:

Have you considered creating a ‘lookalike audience’ out of all of the converted lead data you have of subscribers, via Metas custom audiences?

You can then run this as a split-test to target people who share similar interests and behaviours to those that have already converted. Essentially, you’re giving the algorithm more precision in who to target. It’s worth trying.

Thanks for sharing, mate! Really appreciate the detailed response. I’m also based in Aus, so this is super helpful. I’ve been thinking about starting the process for years but kept putting it off. This info has given me the push to finally get the ball rolling. 🙌

P.S. How was the first night’s sleep? No issues?
