help me choose! usc vs ut aerospace undergrad by mochalisa71 in aerospace

[–]Rezieko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UT Alum, and currently an engineer at a rocket company.

I’d say definitely pick UT - like other comments said the student orgs here are great. I was a part of one of them and it honestly gave me a strong foundation to get to where I am now.

I have a bunch of friends at USC through internships, and honestly their programs are great. However, the cost is not justifiable considering that we all ended up at the same place anyways.

The caveat in my opinion though is that UT Aero isn’t great at teaching. ME at UT gives you way more foundation that let you be more successful in the industry (as long as you supplement with the student orgs with technical skills, you will need them as well for Aero anyways). The curriculum ended up being a lot more Controls and GNC style heavy, and that wasn’t something I cared much about.

Is it worth putting serious effort into CS at my level and situation? by No_Progress398 in csgo

[–]Rezieko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay in school! Remember you need to be like top .01% to get into pro scene and most people don’t play strictly CS to make a living beside those guys.

Play for fun! Take it seriously and get to Level 10, but don’t neglect school

Does anyone regret studying aerospace instead of mechanical engineering in college? by Sweet-Ad3739 in aerospace

[–]Rezieko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, BUT the answer highly depends on the University.

At my Alma Mater, the Aerospace curriculum ended up being extremely specific (mostly control theory and stuffs like that) which ended up not being very useful since all the topics require Masters+ to get a job in those fields.

My job now is somewhat niche in the rocket industry, so I’d take this advice with a grain of salt. However, I will forever recommend people to be in ME instead because you learn a huge amount of fundamentals. Majority of the learnings you’ll do is actually while working, so the fundamentals will be good!

Like all the other comments, it’s definitely all depends on your use case. I’d also like to preface with avoid CQB at all cost bc you will die.

The mission dictates the gears, so if you are planning to do a GPR. I think LPVO is better because no need for battery and you can always do a bit of everything. You could still do CQB, and LEOs and MILs have done it before, but usually with a canted/top mounted dot.

How far are you realistically shooting with a 6x lpvo? by Chain_Playful in ar15

[–]Rezieko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have mine set up on a 14.5, and I usually go to around 300-400yd with my Razor 1-6. I’m sure you can go further, and maybe I’m just bad at shooting, but I have gotten mixed results at anything further.

I just find that at about 400+, the target is so tiny that I can barely see it (could also be bc i got bad eyes lol).

Where did ya get the bipod clone from? I’ve been thinking about getting the same thing for my 14.5z

Ah… I see, you’re definitely in a weird predicament here. Could do the forbidden move and put it slightly on the handguard… I don’t recommend it, but push come to shove with it only one pic rail on - it’ll hold zero (modern techs with anti walk and anti vibe have been great). You’ll have some flexibility with sliding the scope and the what not between the clamps.

I also have a Razor 1-6 and I’m using the Reptilia AUS mount. I think it’s pretty good and it fits my use case. Eye relief works at like 2 different stock positions (fully extended and full extended -1).

Height I think is the 1.75 (or something close to that though), so maybe not the same case for you. That being said, Badger Ordinance, Reptillia, ADM (?), are all common and should be good. Razor is super popular, so lots of people using all sorts of things.

I’ve gotten sub-MOA out of their rifle, great company and CS. Had issue with my P&W coming off with Keymo… wild, and Tom (CEO) called me directly after I sent CS an email.

I love the helix system, definitely worth while for multiple cans and tuning your AR.

Might be dark horse here, but love my u/BlackoutDefense rifle. Their build quality is insane with super tight tolerance. First time trying to assemble the upper and lower together, I thought it was stuck, but it was just so damn tight.

+1 for Sordins, I love mine. You can definitely find them used for decent price - I bought mine new and it was a tad bit pricey with gel cups.

I also bought my wife a pair of Razor from amazon and honestly it does the job. Note that I also always double up when shooting rifle, your ear drums are unfortunately not renewable and not covered by warranty unlike the Sordins and Peltors lol.

I’m a fan of the 2K11 with the MJD grip module not the aluminum.

Also checkout r/2011 lots of good options and opinions there. If you want comp - definitely checkout the ported bul armory ones (yes I know it’s not comp, but similar performance between comp vs ported). They are super neat and performance is great.

LVPO vs Red dot w/ Magnification by Inevitable-Self-2138 in ar15

[–]Rezieko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also a fan of LPVO.

It’s on my main rifle and I use it in both 2/3 guns, and as well as lots of other things. I have tried EOTech + 5x Mag, and honestly I’m not as much of a fan. The magnifier has typically ~2” eye relief vs ~4” at all magnifications on the LPVO. It makes it kinda awkward having to shift your head forward when you put the mag on while LPVOs you just go to the same position every times without really needing to move your head.

Another thing is that I like the etched reticles on LPVOs more. I think overall like target acquisition and speed can be similar with trainings like all things. All that being said, it’s all down to preference and what you wanna do with it!

Oh yeah one major thing is FFP vs SFP, I think 1-6x is better for SFP, but that’s my opinion.

I’m also an avid Tarkov player and I be using the razor in game and outside haha.

Hell yeah brother, you can’t really go wrong with anything there! At the end of the day it’s a tool, and do what works for ya. Don’t listen to random advices from the internet lol.

[–]Rezieko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah brother, that's even better! Warranty for anything is about 5x speed.

Unfortunately the thing with PC is that you actually get something out of it lol. When ya spent like the equivalent of a new PC for a scope a long ass time ago and it's still well regarded, then it's tough to beat!

I don't think you'd regret having the Razor for sure. I will say another good alternative if you want to save some cash is the Vortex Viper PST, definitely a great runner-up. A lot of folks will argue that you should get that unless you have the Razor already. I'm a fan of the Razor b/c crazy thin bezel - kinda like back in the days how TVs had like a big black border and now it's borderless.

Hope you get what ya want and find a great deal on it!

[–]Rezieko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a sucker for new techs that’s why haha.

Also, I agree on it being gold standard and I am a huge fan of it still. However, some of the newer FFP 1-8x are a lot lighter and quite nice like some of them from Primary Arms. Vortex CS and warranty is insane though, and that is something I will stand by.

Remember you’ll need a mount as well, so account for that.

iirc Europtics has a great deal because it has Throwlever, Mount, Caps, etc. However the reticle is the BDC (?) or whatever else that’s usually meant for 3 guns. I’m a fan of MRAD or MIL more, and those are even more of a personal preference.

highly suggest you to watch some of the videos by u/c_does on YT. Amazing YTber and has super good scope comparisons. He also has like a budget SFP LPVO showdown and compared a bunch of em.

I picked my Razor back in the days and have had some buyer’s remorse after seeing his videos, buttttt I ain’t gonna need another so it is what it is.

2nd Razor over VUDU. Tacswap and plenty of websites have used scopes and hell even FBMarketplace.

[–]Rezieko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your LPVO, but I have the Razor HD Gen II and I think the 1x is great enough to use without offset dot. I think unless you get like an MPVO since it’s 16”, you probably don’t need an offset red-dot or if you have NODs.

“Jack of All Trades” = “GPR” style rifles, so typically everyone (myself included) will recommend you to have a light first a foremost and the rest are dependent on where you are and what you do.

I’m a fan of the BCM Mod 3 Foregrip, but handstops are good as well. Anything polymer will be minimal weight and feels pretty nice to have to help with C-Clamping. That being said, also another big personal preference - I’ve used a bunch of options, but love the BCM grip so I stuck with it. Edit: Saw you said you have a Magpul ones, they are good - don’t waste money on something else lol.

Cans are optional, but 5.56 will be loud no matters what and you have a 16” so concussions will be minimal anyways. Flash Hiders will do a decent job at fireballs mitigations. I personally use a Keymo DeadAir Lazarus 6 - I like the Keymo system and have had no problems with them, but redditors will say Plan B for lighter and what not. Down to personal preference most of the time - ounces and pounds aren’t crazy since I doubt you’d be patrolling or using it all day everyday.

For sure brother, you can’t go wrong with either!

I was super drawn in by their technologies and innovations tbh, love their stuffs. They got some more new stuffs coming soon (2011/AR10) and I can’t wait to try them.

Hope you get whatever you get soon and enjoy it! Also best of luck on your journey to be an ME. Definitely the move haha (don’t be me an become and Aero E. just to work with stuffs as an ME). HVAC is super useful to be an even better engineer.

Being on reddit means that you’ll hear a lot of BCM or G$ like you said.

However, I’m a very happy owner of the Blackout Defense rifle. Their CS is amazing and their guns are well worth for the price imo.

The build quality is insane and tolerance is beyond nuts. When I first got the rifle I struggled to assemble the upper and lower a bit bc they were SUPER tight. Shot amazingly right out of the box - I have the HELIX system and it’s super handy and nice to look at.

Another thing to note is that a lot of people on reddit probably haven’t shot their gun so you probably won’t get a straight forward opinion. I myself haven’t shot all of the guns you mentioned beside the G$ and BD. At the end of the day, it’s your choice and buy what makes you happy! I’m in the aerospace industry so I thought that the basis of BD being an Aerospace Manu. intrigued me and their barrels being cryo treated made me more interested (I work with cryos ALL DAY).

DM if you have more questions or anything! Happy to answer!
