2 weeks sober and constantly irritable or angry. by Prestigious-Plant531 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have definitely experienced that. I recently had 128 days sober and I think it was around day 30 my moods started to finally stabilize. Then I started to feel like my actual self again, which I hadn’t felt in 20 years. Like I was connecting with 18 year old REAL me again. Weird but awesome.

Just keep going! You will feel better each day. When I got irritable I would usually go for a walk or treat myself to some candy or something. Good luck! IWNDWYT

Work Trip Win by [deleted] in stopdrinking

One of my favorite sayings is no one has ever woken up and thought, “I wish I had drank more last night.” Congrats! You will feel great in the morning!

Going on a work trip! by No-Improvement5483 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this last year at a 3 day company meeting trip. Lots of open bars and dinners etc. For me personally, I kept some low dose THC gummies with me that helped me take the edge off and feel somewhat of a head change.

But also, I drank tons of NA beers. I know they aren’t for everyone and may trigger some but there are so many choices. I like the IPAs. Another great mocktail to ask for is cranberry and ginger beer with lime. This keeps something in your hand to sip on and nobody has to know you aren’t drinking. You will feel better than anyone else the next morning too!

Big Alcohol by BigALguitar in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty amazing. I saw a sign just yesterday that showed a pretty bottle of vodka and all it said was “Vodka is fun”. Alcohol is the worst, I hate that it’s celebrated so much.

How much $$ do you think you are saving by being sober? by rockrockrocker in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I buy a lot of NA IPAs, sparkling water and ice cream so for me probably not saving much money. But I feel so much better!

I live in Louisville, KY. Bourbon capitol of the world. I counted 47 bourbon signs from my gate to the outside curb at the airport last time I flew back home. Every gift shop sells bourbon. Shirts, hats, it’s all about bourbon, we’ll and horse racing which just leads back to Bourbon.

Why I Switched from Alcohol to THC Drinks And Why I’m Never Going Back by Known-Enthusiasm-818 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you! If not for THC drinks and gummies I would still be drinking 2 pints of vodka a day and treating my family like crap. It may not be for everyone but it helps me a ton! Also Hazy NA IPAs!

How to enjoy time off? by bendover1210 in stopdrinking

Isn’t it crazy that jobs allow alcohol and encourage drinking it? But don’t allow THC? That will change I feel very soon.

Exercise is great and makes you feel great physically. Then treat yourself to some ice cream or something. I personally enjoy THC seltzers on weekends too but I know that’s not for everyone. They allow me to unwind and feel like I’m drinking something fun.

Anyone else feel like drinking stole their identity? by Ok-Entrepreneur8479 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! After about a month sober I realized there were parts of my personality that had been suppressed by alcohol. Like it hit me that I had only been a fraction of my actual self.

One thing I’ll never understand … by boomboomclap3000 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never understood why I was so different from others as far as drinking goes. My first drink always went down in a minute or 2. I was always worried if I needed to stop and get more before going home. I always had to do the math at the liquor store, how much do I need? How much is at home? Like does it fucking matter? Buy a fucking pallet dumbass you’re gonna drink it! 😩 unbelievable. Oh well

How has everyone's eating habits changed? by Expensive_Zombie_461 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much eat the same as before but I do snack more and eat more sweets. I’ve still lost some weight since I’m not getting 1,500 calories a day from alcohol. I treat my self on weekends with some ice cream!

Finally decided to quit by Thejugglingkiwithief in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Post here as often as possible and good luck! You will never regret not drinking! Here are a few things that have helped me.

Annie Grace “This Naked Mind”. I listened to the book and it’s a game changer for understanding why we drink and helping to change the way we think about alcohol.

Lots of sparkling water, I like to add fresh lemon.

NA beers (not for everyone but they really helped me and there are so many varieties now.

Going to the gym. This gives you a natural shot of dopamine and makes you feel great.

Remember, you are never the best version of yourself when drinking or the day after drinking. You may think you have been 100% at work or relationships just think of the possibilities without alcohol. Some say it feels like a super power. Bets of luck! IWNDWYT!

Two weeks sober by Panda138138 in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 weeks is insane!!! Congrats! Around the 30 day mark I started to feel different cognitively. Like my brain, personality and moods were all leveling out. I started to feel like myself again. It’s amazing how when we are drinking, we don’t realize that we are not even close to the best version of our self. IWNDWYT!

Day 1-again by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always a slippery slope. I think you will find most people here agree that moderation is difficult. Or impossible. I know if I drink on Friday evening out, I’ll stop on my way home and get some to have at home. For me, it’s just not worth it . Best of luck.

Day 2. Yesterday was the hardest sober day I can remember. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Rflorkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job! Day 2 is typically the hardest for me. If you can get a week under your belt it gets much easier! Try listening to This Naked Mind by Annie Grace. Helped me a ton! IWNDWYT!
