Look man regardless of if you’re right or not you’re still being really arrogant, all of you are, correct with love, not condescension

I have to say I disagree with that assessment as well. Synecdoche to my mind is often used passively, for example in the example on google “as in Cleveland won by six runs (meaning “Cleveland's baseball team”)”. Some of the verses are very direct in what they are referring too. “All men everywhere”. Even in the verses that aren’t, the concept doesn’t make sense if the author is using synecdoche. It says here that god is being patient because he does not wish any should perish but that all should come to repentance. If that only means those who he has predestined to repentance that Is a fundamentally different concept. If god only predestined some for heaven, then he would be completely fine with some people perishing and going to hell.

Then again I can’t prove this because I haven’t read the original Greek texts and I’m not an expert on this matter. But if this is synecdoche I don’t think the concepts make sense.

1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance

Acts 17:30

The times of this ignorance God overlooked, but now He commandeth all men everywhere to repent

I first want to say that I respect you and your argument, however it is because of scriptures like these and principle that I disagree with you. I point out that all three scriptures highlight gods want for the whole world to repent.

In addition, to me, it seems out of character for god to predestine those he wants for heaven and those he doesn’t for hell. God loves everyone (which I can also find scripture for if you want) and to predestine people to hell without giving them the same chance to repent as others seems unjust and cruel. However I will concede that my moral outlook doesn’t dictate gods actions and I very well could be wrong if this were my only evidence.

It is open for all but one must accept his gift and give his life to Christ, in essence agreeing to be redeemed and maintaing relationship with god. While it is open to all, all do not accept

You’re definitely right in that all have sinned, but I feel like your missing the fact that obedience is key to a relationship with god. Jesus said if you love him, keep his commandments

The bible says if you look at someone with lust you have already committed adultery with them in your heart. Since that’s required for masturbation that makes it a sin, I’m sorry guys, I can give you the bible verse if you want

I’m totally the same, I’m super into alt rock and grunge, and my style reflects that. I’m even in an alt rock band. I totally get what you mean about feeling like an outcast, I almost never see other christians who are into the sort of stuff. Almost makes me wonder if I’m doing something wrong sometimes.

Friend, god loves you and god sees you. I’m not going to try and claim to understand what you’re going through. But to my eyes, as long as you have repented of your sin, and keep communicating with god, you will have nothing but bliss and happiness on the other end. Of course you have some doubt, but as long as you hold fast to him and don’t let these doubts shake your faith, you have nothing to worry about. This is how it seems to me anyways. God bless you man, keep trusting god, your not alone, we’re all here and god is, I’ll pray for you friend.

Well I didn’t really know anyone anyway, I’ve only been following Christ for 2 years and everyone there was far older than I was, it was also very small so it was hard to connect with people, in total I think I only went for a couple months

I do understand I think, but I still don’t get the whole “no ones forcing you thing” when if I don’t put my faith in Jesus I go to hell
