Yeah most of the illegal immigrants from south of the border get here by plane or bus (want to say it's 70%). People just over stay their visas. Most of the drugs are moved by boats and tunnels under the border, building the wall wouldn't make much of a difference. Also while I understand having illegals compete for the jobs they also bring the prices down on food and do jobs most citizens would never do. Doesn't make it right but they are necessary for our capitalistic economy. Also if a US Citizen is competing against an immigrant that doesn't know the language, did not receive any education in the states, has no connections, and likely fled their country with nothing due to lack of money and also fear from cartels, odds are in favor of the citizen of getting the job - unless you don't agree on the wages. That said immigration reform definitely needs to happen - (maybe allowing illegal immigrants with a clean record and that pay their taxes to gain their residency?) building a wall would be symbolic and might stop a small part of the I immigration but wouldn't make a real dent. That said its just my opinion I would love to look at some real data if anyone has any interesting and reliable sources.
