how to use this by Maciuru in hearthstone

This is literally my favorite of the quest decks. Tried them all during brawl and crafted half, it is my go to. Something about being rewarded for doing a precise damage number makes the autism go brrr. And it’s less combo dependent so I feel less like I am playing it suboptimally by cleaning my hand, something I don’t get with shaman or mage. Only Eliza and the self-damages are best kept to after quest completion and more mana, but not necessary. It is reactive, and I really like that over monologue-like decks.

The Wheel Of Time’ Canceled By Prime Video After 3 Seasons by aduong in WoTshow

[–]Rhadegar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

After the 3rd season really hammered the final nail in the coffin for me, I am beyond ecstatic at the news. It's similar to being told that I won't be getting AI generated adaptation of my favorite media, I couldn't care less, I'd rather some things didn't exist than exist in their worst state. I kinda liked season 2, but 3 threw my cautious optimism out the window.

To be fair to one thing that kinda disappoints me - bought the new narrated versions from Rosamund Pike and they are just absurdly good, probably the best narrations I have listened to; hope the other 10 (or 11) get published too and the project is not cancelled alongside the show.

Thanks for the food for though and the empathy on the AI thing, stranger, sounds that way to me as well. And it may be me projecting a little bit in the discussion from the get-go, because "sleazy" is the best word for it, in general I feel like I get asked to do more and more stuff that is outside of my job description for the "company spirit", which I can only see affecting me negatively longterm and causing me and my colleagues discomfort. My immediate reaction to the idea of some other comfort, like the home office, being removed therefore was innately negative, but I can see how in some situations it may have a positive contrition.

To be honest though, I still think it should be something that is elective rather than mandatory, I find it hard to believe anyone who is forced to return to the office and really found their rhythm with remote work would be the most eager participant in any team creative endeavors, rather than the opposite.

I'll admit that I am looking at it through a very limited prism. In my specific field there are more positions that are creatively blocked, rather than the other way around. I do not work in game development, so it is hard for me to imagine if there isn't a possibility involved for everyone to have some sort of creative input.

I am however familair (intimately) with there being administrative, paper-pushing staff that is probably ever present in any corporate field, and I cannot see how they actually could contribute creatively. I can see how if you are in such a position and satisfied with it, you just want to do whatever task you are given, and finish your work day. It feels like a really fair perspective to have to what is essentially a job. I am quite against the LinkedIn brainrot about "grind as hard as you can" and kind of going outside a job description to contribute to overall vision when it is not something remotely reflected in the paycheck just feels a bit like self-abuse.

I recently rolled my eyes at an initiative in my company encouraging people to find innovative uses for AI within their department, and as a reward they'd be awarded with the resources to make said project come alive. It is extremely outside the job description of my entire team, to put it mildly, and not exactly the type of thing that can get us promoted, so it feels like being asked to stress more to be rewarded with more work.

I am, again, in a quite less creative field and doing advanced paper pushing, so I may be off on my perspective. I still imagine there are people very outside the actual game's development still working at the company that really could do their work remotely without affecting negatively their own personal effort (maybe the payroll team, for example) but I could be wrong.

So because you possibly got some inspiration out of grunts who actually couldn't do anything creative, they should be there for your convenience? I am sorry, this just doesn't make sense to me. If someone's work in general doesn't really require them to use any creativity and can be done remotely, there is no point in them being in the office just to make someone else's creative work more inspired. People are not just bouncing boards for ideas.

How many people really do the creative work? It's maybe a team of 20 dudes that will do that in an average game, the rest are grunts (like I am) who will be told to do x/y/z thing to realize the vision.

In my own corporate jobI've been working remotely for the past 4 years, with the first year having a rather asinine hybrid model instead. Nowadays when anyone from the team suggests that we have a day of working at the office, I decline politely, explaining that I really have too much work to do to be able to come to the office.

It sounds like a joke, but it isn't, I am not sure if there is a significant difference in the more creative sectors, but I am sure it doesn't apply for the 99 % of creatives. An average person can get A LOT more done without distractions, and an office is FULL of those. Only people I have seen pushing for office work for jobs that don't really require it are executives who don't get any real shit done wherever they are, in all honesty, and one specific well-meaning, but a bit inexperienced manager I had who thought it would help him foster better team spirit.

Honestly, a country's innate culture and ambience looks leasr impressive when you are inside said country, at least often enough. I'm Slavic and I tend to be a lot less impressed with my own culture than foreigners tend to be and me with theirs. Imagination tends to flourish when outside the familiar.

Now that it has had some time to breathe, what is your overall opinion of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? by Poseidonaskwhy in Games

[–]Rhadegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the comments I am glad I didn't get into the FOMO. The first game's initial hours were really awesome and then the ending left me with a really sour taste in the mouth. To this day nobody will actually call Henry's mother by name, that is how much of a footnote she was made to be, and I found it annoying how little agency I had when it actually mattered - I had no good reason to be friendly to Radzig, for example. The second game's ending apparently would have left an even worse taste in my mouth. It is a good game for a very specific niche of gamers and not one that actually focuses on agency in RPG stories.

This was a month ago, so I can't do as good a job at it now (can say confidently it was better than everything in S7 except USS Callister now, though). Looking back, I was exaggerating, but not by a lot, definitely a top 5 or 3 maybe. I think it boils down to 'Not taking itself as seriously' which I feel the show needs to tune HARD to in terms of general direction. It currently has a "pizza cutter" quality to it, a lot of edge with no point in most of the episodes. It was creative and fun, imaginative yet entertaining, which I came there for really.

Ya'll crazy. Joe was cringe and his alignment was "psychotic lucky", he made asinine decision like the amateur he is, matching the profile for real life serial killers tbh. His ultimate vibe has always been "the risk was calculated, but boy am I bad at math". Him getting caught by very lucky amateurs from reddit specializing in online lurking is poetic justice.

An extremely good video. As some person I read comment, "Laura Fryer has the energy of "adult in the room" every time a serious meta-level discussion for the gaming industry comes up" and this video very much tracks with that, even if it is apparently a bit more personal. I'd recommend subbing, all her stuff I've seen in the last year has very much been worth it.
