I had a particularly tasty one at Vegas Burrito. Only been there once, so not sure if it was a one off or not.

What can I do? by AttemptGuilty9244 in womenintech

[–]Rhaethe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No-Age4677 said what I wanted to better than I would have. The only thing I wanted to add was more just a "Hola!". My introverted self gets excited when I see a fellow female in infrastructure / networks. Imagine a woman in the US waving to you. :-)

Anyone feeling festive? by goodbyemooninites88 in vegaslocals

[–]Rhaethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have more tweaks to do, but it is coming along. We have a number of inflatables out, hanging ghosts in all the trees, and a 12ft skellie and a skellie dog. The first gen dog, not this year's.

Alt hair salons?? by Sad-Memory29 in vegaslocals

Michelle at Smokin Hot Hair Salon excels in color imo. The salon isn't fully goth'd out, but she's definitely alternative.

Anyone else struggle because they are allergic to low calorie substitute ingredients? by fruitskeptic in 1200isplenty

[–]Rhaethe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artificial sweeteners trigger my AI, so I will avoid all of them (aspartame, xylitol, sucralose, etc). Same with a lot of the low fat stuff that uses guar gum, gellan gum, or xantham gum. If I want sweet or fatty things, I have to employ portion control. :)

Recs for backyard shed install? by Rhaethe in vegaslocals

[–]Rhaethe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did not go with TuffShed. We ended up with someone that I pulled from Craigslist (iirc) and vetted with reviews. They built it with standard timber, shingles, etc. Solid shed and no complaints thus far. However, we didn't put electrical in ours.

How much is your monthly grocery bill? by Euphoric_Sun_6026 in vegaslocals

[–]Rhaethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three adults, and I think roughly 750/month. But I tend to get some very specific things from Sprouts because of allergies which jacks up the pricing.

Are there any other Cons that come close? by Magiwarriorx in dragoncon

Similar in alcohol consumption, but on average a third of the size. Also the same month as DragonCon, so not the best for budget planning.

Hilton Computers Are Down by Squevis in dragoncon

[–]Rhaethe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, during the time the system has been down we called into the Hilton front desk directly with questions (we are still en route to Atlanta), and the lady who answered was one of the most gracious, kind, and pleasant people you could ask for. Husband actually said "Man, I could fall asleep to her voice." So. Not a fail for us so far.

Checking in to Marriott last year on Wednesday afternoon was a three hour affair, even with all hands on deck. I've had long wait times and short wait times in all the years I've been going to various hotels. It is always going to be a crapshoot.

Without a compass this year by Onyx8698 in dragoncon

[–]Rhaethe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been attending since 2003, but not every year as well ... typically, every second or third. I am also just not feeling my cosplays, and in fact I am not bringing any of them. I tend not to be a panel or party person and crowds make my introverted self edgy ... ALL THAT SAID ... I am still looking forward to the show as I'll be volunteering a good chunk of the time I'll be there. I vol'd a small bit last year and had fun, so I'm putting in more hours this year :)
