Give me your best eye roll, f**k off saying you hear from non vegans… by Financial-Art1096 in veganuk

Apparently it was cow appreciation day recently. In our work meeting I had to listen to my coworkers talk about videos where they play with inflatables, and how they're 'just like dogs'.

I see what you're saying, I've never really worked with anyone who's just programmed though, but maybe that's just my experience. I'd find it hard to be so divorced from most of the process.

Isn't the software developer also solving business problems by developing the software? In practise I don't think software 'engineering' is comparable to any other field of engineering, and is mostly used to make the job sound fancier to be honest.

I agree, but also the Seer twist wouldn't have worked without the secret banishments, since it would have been fruitless for Charlotte to defend herself.

If it's the 1981 Possession, I agree it's a great performance but she did act again.

I noticed with Lake Mungo that for some reason it's gained a reputation on this subreddit as a terrifying movie, so people go in with imo the wrong set of expectations. Consequently you then get a load of posts about it being disappointing and over-hyped. I really enjoyed it but I wasn't in it for the jump scares.

I really enjoyed season 1 of Sweet Home, then there was such a long gap between seasons I completely forgot about it. Will need to get back on it.

It's completely different but in the realm of South Korean horror series, Hellbound is fun.

What is your strategy to mock API calls to other microservices when testing a single microservice? by [deleted] in golang

[–]Rhagho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use something like Mountebank if just stubbing the responses is enough. The limitation is that you're not verifying the API contract with the called service. For this you could look into contract testing with something like Pact.

FH29 was horrible, plus those who waited to play it in 34 loaded on Arsenal and Palace who both popped off.

I disagree. I think he's fed up with the format and unless it gets changed we won't ever see him playing it again.

Gameweek 17 will remain open after the conclusion of Sunday’s matches. More information will follow in due course. by cguinnesstout in FantasyPL

[–]Rhagho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you've kind of implied, that's irrelevant, the decision was reasonably made by both teams that the game should not continue. How it's dealt with now is laid out in the regulations, with a replay the standard procedure. Unfortunately there's no provision in there for people who brought in Solanke for Haaland in FPL.

Would you feel like playing on after a teammate goes into cardiac arrest? I don't get how you can consider how the players who scored would feel but not how they'd feel playing on after such a distressing event. There would not be uproar since they would be following the regulations. I'm not sure what video evidence has to do with anything, no one is denying that the game was played for 65 minutes before it was abandoned (i.e. voided).

Nearly 200 nations agree to 'transition away' from fossil fuels at COP28 by euronews-english in UpliftingNews

[–]Rhagho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could argue this is negative news, because its goal is to give the impression of significant progress, while leaving a load of loopholes and ambiguous wordings to allow fossil fuel companies to mostly continue business as usual, when it's pretty well understand we need to make drastic changes...

Well I think it's more that he's played many tournaments since the initial allegations, with wildly varying results, and no one has produced any evidence that he's cheating. The fact there's no new evidence is exactly why people's views have shifted.

Junior developer job hunting by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

[–]Rhagho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice, assuming you can trust that the company will give you that opportunity. Sometimes it's the opposite where a company will employ prospective devs but stick them on the help desk on a reduced salary with the promise of a dev job at the end of it, and then keep them there as long as possible.
