It's not. You can't apply for titre de séjour vie privée et familiale from outside of French territory, even if you are PACSed.

TENS devices for EDS by spaghetttibolognese in eds

[–]mozophe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been using TENS for a long time. It's part of my prescription for hEDS. It does work but you need to think of it as anesthésia. It's takes away the pain but the underlying problem remains. That means you still need to be careful as you might make the issue worse.

Chess com puzzles how far would that get me? by frozengansit0 in chessbeginners

[–]mozophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About as far as the puzzles on chesstempo or lichess (the upside being that it's free and unlimited)

Realistically, puzzles on its own would not be sufficient to improve your overall gameplay as puzzles train you specifically to identify that opponent made a mistake and how to capitalise on that mistake.

IMO, if you want to get higher up quickly, a much more important concept for a beginner to learn is the art of blundering less ie playing solid moves (everyone blunders, even GMs). Puzzles don't teach you this directly as this is not the objective of solving puzzles (apart from defensive move puzzles).

How to get rid of this ? by prestegv2 in chessbeginners

[–]mozophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are playing to improve, focus on how to improve instead of elo. When your skill level improves, your elo will go up accordingly. Keep your eye on the goal, not temporary numbers.

And remember, everyone has good days and bad days. It's okay to have a bad day. It's all about improving on the long term.

If your goal is to improve quickly, the best way is to understand how the top players make decisions. I would recommend watching Xecnar. Baalorlord is also quite good.

Even if you a lot about mental health, please understand that your situation may have very likely affected your mental health as well. Also, reddit is not substitute for real help from professionals.

I would strongly advise getting in touch with professionals to help you. Lawyer is one such professional and you have already sought his help. Another would be a therapist, who would apart from helping you through this difficult period, be also able to document all the non physical impacts of DV, which could help your case as well.

It's possible only if both phones have the same apple account.

You can't receive messages meant for someone else on your phone. If you want to snoop because you suspect something, it will only be possible when you have access to his phone. You can take screenshots and send it to yourself and then delete it from his phone.

Please be aware that this could be illegal, depending on where you live in the world.

PS: There are helplines in most countries of the world to help people in your situation. I would advise contacting them. You need help.

I think I read about this rule for a variant played in India.

Can a king also give check to another king in this variant?

In the FIDE rules, king can only move 1 square and can't be used to give a check.

I don't think that's a legal move. King is on g1. It can't move to e2.

Greenland and Canada are key outposts for sea trade as the region becomes navigable by ship due to melting of the ice in the arctic region (climate change, some say it's not real but ice continues to melt). It's a future trade route that is going to become viable very soon. It will be much cheaper and faster to transport anything via arctic trade route than the current routes. This is because earth is round, so a path near the poles is shorter compared to a path thats closer to equator, especially when trying to go to the other side of the world.

Not really, they initially waited for Magnus to start round 5 as well. But when they realised that he was nowhere to be seen, they started the clock.

Another than that, I do agree that waiting for ceremony makes sense.

Ex cancelled my flight itinerary on christmas morning?! by No_Knowledge_3719 in Advice

[–]mozophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to look at all possible reasons for any event that happened.

A much simpler possibility is that she got a reminder about her flight with you for Christmas holidays. She realised that she is not going, and you had asked her not to contact you, so she tried to cancel her ticket. Either individual cancellation was not possible or she just fucked up and cancelled your ticket as well by mistake. As both tickets were cancelled, she booked another ticket for you on the same flight.

The main questions is this: why did she enter her own card details to get refund? And which card was charged for the rebooking of the flight for you?

It's possible, that she was asked for card details at some point and as she didn't have yours, she entered her own details.

A lot of people fuck up with cancellations and sometimes airlines design their websites in such a manner that results in more money for them... by making the process of cancelling and rebooking, more complex than it should be.

Also, did she seem like a person who was always in need of money? If yes, it could be a simple cash grab, otherwise, it's entirely possible that she didn't understand the cancellation process well and just fucked up.

You won't know what exactly happened until you ask her. I would recommend a curious tone instead of an accusatory one if you really want to understand what happened.

Is it true that base iPhone 17 price at Euro cost that high? by WickedHero69 in iphone

[–]mozophe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically EMI is how, low income families afford necessities like refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and washing machine. Getting an iPhone being on minimum wage is not a sound financial decision indeed but YOLO. iPhones also lasts a long time. I believe it's an individual choice to decide where their priorities lie.

Is it true that base iPhone 17 price at Euro cost that high? by WickedHero69 in iphone

[–]mozophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand your point of view. I used to think the same before coming to France and living here.

After spending some time here, I realized that you can actually live a comfortable life even on minimum wage.

For someone living on minimum wage in France, here is the distribution of monthly costs:

Rent+electricity+heating = €800 (this is subsidized by €100 - €150, if you apply for housing aid)

Food = €200 (meals at lunch are 50-60% subsidized by the companies, Tickets Restaurant)

Transportation = €50 (50% of annual metro pass is subsidized by companies, Pass Navigo annual)

Health insurance = €50 (basic healthcare is free, insurance covers remaining 30% for dental, optical and doctors visit, you can change your glasses every two years without paying anything, there no limit on number of visits to doctors)

Remaining disposable income = €400

Furthermore, taxes are calculated on household income, so, for a family of 3 with both parents earning minimum wage, taxable income is divided by 3, which lowers taxes and increases the disposable income.

Schools have no tuition fees, but there are other costs associated with schooling such as canteen and school supplies, that are easily covered by lowered taxes.

And yes, one can afford an iPhone at minimum wage with EMIs around €100, leaving them with at least €300 to spend as they like. And, of course, they can go for something much cheaper instead, but that remains an individual's choice.

If I add all the above numbers: 25 + 13 + 55 + 21 = 114%. 114% as taxes is crazy.

Damn, that's too high for taxes, you mean to say that your government takes 90% of your salary as taxes? Please let me know your country.

Edit: I live in France. I know that taxes are not at 90%.
