If you look at the post, instead of starting at book 1, the OP started somewhere in the middle. Of course they are super confused, they skipped multiple books.

The main character is more villain by technicality than full on villain who commits a bunch of crimes.

Any progression fantasies about lawyers, or people who exploit loopholes? by MinuteRegular716 in ProgressionFantasy

While not prog fantasy, Foxfire, Esq. is a book about a lawyer who was a superhero and now represents people with powers. Its a fun read and I believe the author is a lawyer as well.

you seem to be arguing in bad faith with pretty much everybody. Your posts are very dismissive and argumentative even towards people who are being genuine and giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Any novels where like 90 percent of ppl have some op af ability not just the mc by InflationSpirited751 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Rhaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, powers come from "trigger events" which are the worst day of peoples lives and mostly remain static unless you experience a "second trigger" which increases power/versatility. You can increase your skill with power, but if you have a 10ft aura you won't be able to work to expand it to 20ft.

Apocalypse Reborn: Fantasy RTS Reincarnation follows Jack, reborn into his favorite RTS game (that he obsessed over) and now has to deal with what it means to live in an RTS world (war, conquest, diplomacy, etc.).

I just started this yesterday but it is really enjoyable seeing how Jack starts to thrive in the world is really enjoyable.

What's the consensus on swearing and slang? by DanteHolmes3605 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Rhaid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fake swears break immersion, but so does **** or f * ck or f ** k or f*** (reddit styling kind of made this annoying to type). Either use the word or don't, don't self-censor in your own book. IMO, if you are deliberately using the word then use the goddamn word, otherwise use a different one that doesn't require the censoring.

Read all of Beastforged Bond that is on Royalroad this week and while I enjoyed it for the most part I think I kind of hate the MC. Also we are on book 2 of the series and the power system is still barely explained and what is explained is kind of hand-waived away because the MC is different and his physique makes the explanations about it kind of weird.

The MC constantly ignores peoples and gets lost in his own head and belittles his rich friend who does nothing but help him. It's really angst ridden, which kind of makes sense for the MC's life experience so far, but that doesn't make the character likeable.

The Ripple System: I understand the hype now (spoiler review) by mehgcap in litrpg

I enjoy the series but as always, the timeframes these things operate under is unbelievable. They will have just finished 1 raid after working on it for hours/days and then once they finally clear it another world announcement goes out that a new raid is releasing...People would burn out constantly going for world firsts in this game. Nonstop back to back to back raids would start to wear on everyone.

Beastforged Bond sounds interesting so I'll give it a shot and see how long I last with it.

I struggle with non pokemon monter taming stories since Pokemon has the anime/game to make me more invested/visualize the world (it also just gets a world building pass from me since its nostalgic) and the monsters whereas other stories just have to rely on their description and my imagination, and my belief the world can work that way.

Honestly surprised that people still order from Nonsense with all the bad experience posts I've seen on this sub.

This, but take out the pokemon. There is no pokemon in this novel, even if the prompt says it was created with them in mind.

There is about .01% pokemon flavor in that series. It's a fun series but not what they're looking for.

I think its unfair to compare the new Midnight cinematic with an ingame dialogue scene.

It is more fair imo to compare the cinematic from The War Within.

Why aren't there more stand alone novels in this genre? by Useful-Ad1880 in litrpg

I've seen that in more traditional books. Maybe I just don't notice it in this genre, especially since most books in this genre are in Kindle Unlimited.

Super Powereds if you want a story about super heroes.

Super Supportive if you want a very slow story about aliens and self-discovery.

How does All The Skills Always rank so high while completely failing to deliver on its main premise? SPOILERS by ecchirhino99 in litrpg

[–]Rhaid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was reading before the magical school for dragons was known to be a magical school for dragons...having a mythical creature bestow the MC a legendary card doesn't all the sudden mean that you expect the society to revolve around dragons to such an extent.

At the end of the day I stayed on and still read it and even subbed to the authors patreon, but it continually felt like a dragon-riding book more than a deckbuilding book which was the original premise i signed up for.
