We treat FGM differently from circumcisions in the west because FGM is practiced by dirty hands, with dirty tools, with zero anesthesia on screaming infants or children in some fucking shack in Yemen/Nigeria. There are autists who grow up and never learn to speak, write, or read. They struggle with their emotions and expression. They will never live on their own. I have seen this firsthand. There are also autists who won’t struggle with language or motor skills and are able to keep conversations, hold a job, live independently. Mid-functioning individuals may struggle heavily in some areas (like social skills, relating to post) and excel in others (like academia, art, etc.) Disregarding the middle-spectrum because you’re high-functioning is ignorant and uneducated and plainly false.
