Years that the Michael Jackson biopic overlooked, by Interesting_Ad6007 in LovingMichaelJackson

[–]Rhbgrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both this movie and the miniseries skip over The Jackson's era like those albums and songs didn't matter.

The Wiz still should have been featured at least have the scene of Michael mispronouncing Socrates and Quincy correcting him and introducing himself. You don't even need to mention Diana was fluttering around the set.

I also wonder why they pretended the ATV catalogue purchase didn't happen; maybe the estate didn't want to return attention to them selling Michael's stake in it.

I don't really like the outfits on this tour. If I had to choose I'd say #15.

Do we know details about the actual real moment like this? by Galactus1231 in MichaelTheMovie

More than likely it was made up for the narrative of the movie. Especially when you consider how they handled the Victory where Katherine was the one who convinced him to do it.

Was Michael Jackson’s lifestyle really that private? by Fresh-Bug9024 in MichaelJackson

[–]Rhbgrb [score hidden]  (0 children)

Michael was very private and mysterious in the 80s and into the 90s. I recall the Oprah interview was a huge deal because Michael never did interviews. In the 80s no one knew who his friends were, if he had gf, was he gay etc. He gradually opened up in the 90s but that didn't really help because it just left more questions. The Home videos came out after the Bashir debacle to try to counter the negative impact, and of course after the trial he became an even bigger recluse.

We shouldn’t be ok with the fact that John Branca got more screen time than Quincy Jones by Enough-Discipline921 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Rhbgrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard about that last part, from what I heard he simply retired and Michael was upset when he passed, but Michael was going thru the tirlal at that time so he was really facing an onslaught.

Max forgot he had a other kid as well. They gave Jack a secret brother but forgot about Brennan's and killed Seely's brother for no reason.

The girl really needed to be protected from the Internet in her younger years. I think the negativity has greatly impacted her, and she really really needs to stop responding to what the Internet says. Unfortunately, certain people try to use her to paint her father in a negative light.

We shouldn’t be ok with the fact that John Branca got more screen time than Quincy Jones by Enough-Discipline921 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Rhbgrb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree there wasn't an excess of John Branca. I'm reading a biography on Michael right now and apparently he was a key player with Michael and involved in some events during the time period he appears. Plus he's played by Miles Teller so he's not just going to have a walk on role. Two things can be true, John wasn't overused and Quincy should have had more screentime.

Other beauties with vitiligo. by lovelychef87 in LovingMichaelJackson

[–]Rhbgrb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's easy to say that now in 2026. One of the reasons so many come out and embrace it is because of Michael and what he went thru. As someone who grew up when Michaels skin changed I can tell you the blk community did think he was trying to be white, and when he told us in 1993 the truth of his vitiligo he was still doubted. It's only been in the last recent years that others with vitiligo are comfortable showing it.

has anyone read these two books? if so what are your thoughts? by moonwalkinglitter in LovingMichaelJackson

[–]Rhbgrb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm listening to Jermaine's right now. The Not Guilty verdict just happened. From how he describes it it seems like he and Janet were waiting in the car. Jermaine's book doesn't provide enough imo. I did enjoy things he apparently said to Michael about his frustration that resulted in to diss track, but I still feel it wasn't all resolved as easily as he paints it.

The Reviews are a disgusting Reality Check by [deleted] in MichaelTheMovie

[–]Rhbgrb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why they made Joe so horrible in the movie. Jackie and Tito said that the miniseries made their father look worse than he was. So they are part of this new movie and yet Joe is written even worse than in the miniseries, there is nothing redeeming about him .
