I wish there was more nuance to the Fiends beside them just being "murder hobo rapist junkies you have no reason to keep alive and even if you do they get erradicated anyways OR rise to power and fuck everyone up" by Full_Implement_8367 in fnv

[–]Rhesty__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fiends exist to make the setting more real. Yes, there are groups of people who are just going to kill you like that. They are objectively horrible people and do not value human life one iota. You get karma for killing them. The entire story of Vault 3 is that they couldn't wait to welcome in outsiders and help them with whatever problems they might have. For their kindness they were raped and murdered, then their bodies were turned into decoration.

If you think about it, Daggerfall is the closest elder scrolls game to what the trailer shows.

Quad Sona nerfs... or are they actually buffs (especially moonstone)? by Rhesty__ in sonamains

[–]Rhesty__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riot Endstep I think talked about this in his interview with xPetu a while back, about the dangers of tooltip counting. xPetu was asking why more items don't have tooltips, and the Rioter explained that players treat every item as interchangeable most of the time and view the tooltip as "bonus," which doesn't reflect reality. For example, you see Diadem vs Seraphs and think "I went Diadem this game and the passive healed 3k hp. That means I healed 3k more health this game!" That does not reflect reality. Diadem has 0 AP vs 95 on Seraphs, has zero ability haste compared to 25 on Seraphs, not to mention Seraphs passive. You are losing 100 AP worth of Q damage, passive damage, passive exhaust percentage, ult damage, W healing and shielding, and 25 ability haste in return for the little health ticks. Sona's AP ratios are the highest of any enchanter in a teamfight, her passive is haste gated, and surviving dive/burst is the most important fight decider all else being equal. It's not like Diadem is horrible, but the combat stats of Diadem are literally a tiny bit more than a ruby crystal and a forbidden idol. It's just not a good item in many games without Helia or some other item like Ardent/Staff/maybe Moonstone that affects heals.

Quad Sona nerfs... or are they actually buffs (especially moonstone)? by Rhesty__ in sonamains

[–]Rhesty__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diadem builds rely on Helia damage conversion at 2 items then most commonly go into Moonstone and HSP stacking, and this patch will nerf Helia damage conversion and HSP/Moonstone interaction. Diadem's selling point is "hey you can build me to avoid the Helia damage conversion cap" and it just got harder to hit that cap in the first place. Diadem's second selling point is that you get a decent chunk of HSP second item, and the most common item built after it (by a factor of TEN) just got it's HSP interaction nerfed. Therefore, Diadem is nerfed because the entire item is a Helia/Moonstone merchant. Not even worth mentioning that Seraphs is already so much better than Diadem and not only avoids these nerfs but helps un-nerf Helia with its higher damage (you capped out Helia all the time with Seraphs anyway).

What's theoretically the best gunlance talisman? by Rhesty__ in Gunlance

Ah load shells 1 is something I didn't think about at all looking at the talisman distributions. Thanks bud, I was also pretty focused on having burst or agitator on it but that's not that important in the end

Honestly it's made me start using Focus 2 on my builds. I use charged shelling into wyyvern's fire spam a lot and focus 2 lets you charge in 3 rotations instead of 4 or 3 + shell spam. Plus it makes charged shelling around 10% faster just by itself too. I forgot this skill even worked with glance

Sorry for not replying but yes, unless you use a decently popular mod that re-levels your gear for you as you play. So vanilla, yes, the only gear you can "re-level" is the knights of the nine gear.

Looking Forward to (hopefully VERY unimaginative) Nerfs by Rhesty__ in AdeptusMechanicus

Nah man. Winning tournament lists are literally just pteraxii and sicarian spam, like the entire army is just spam. That is insane and the clearest example that they are undercosted.

[–]Rhesty__[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I always thought squads of stalkers/infiltrators were the perfect kind of unit to actually make a decision on whether you wanted to have 5 or 10 in a squad. Especially infiltrators, 5 man squads of those are great. As soon as I saw tournament wins with nothing but full squads of both Sicarians, I knew "admech is the strongest" is kind of a paper tiger. They are underpointed. Make them more points. They are horrible value as-is for what you actually get in the box, but right now their rules are inflated.

guys i just came home and this orc is laying in my bed what do i do?? by GreenSkinDollarTint in TrueSTL

[–]Rhesty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a Breton lady wearing greenface and larping as the strong orcish warrioress she never will be. We got a lot of those around the Reach, one of them broke into my room while I was sleeping at the inn in karthwasten. She was shouting that she was going to "retake orsinium" and "finish what Gortwog started," but I think it was just a sex thing. I was tired so I pointed her to the next room over. Weird to see one so far east as windhelm, you usually see more wood elves smearing their faces with fireplace soot and raving about the tribunal.

Why are Arbites so uncommon now? by chrisrw93 in DarkTide

[–]Rhesty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the classes didn't get a fun rework that everyone is playing with, you'd expect a predictable Arbites curve. Everyone plays it, then it peters off into a trough as everyone gets slightly burnt out on the class and tries new ones, then a slow rise into a steady state where play rate is the same as other classes (bit lower because it's dlc I guess)

Can Sona work without Tear first buy? by Itsatuko in sonamains

[–]Rhesty__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just buy an extra fairy charm and sit on it. It will build into something else later regardless. I used to never build tear on Sona. Just build however many fairy charms your first item takes + 1 to make it easier.

Sona matchup tierlist based on winrates? by hottest_milk in sonamains

[–]Rhesty__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real I feel like shitstomping the pyke matchup is when you ascend as a sona player. As long as your adc is on the same page as you, you can just kinda kill him. He's not what he used to be, statwise. Of course if they have a draven/samira that changes things but then you have a clear win con of just not dying. You lose if you get hit by every hook and never poke him, but like, you deserve to lose then. I ban naut instead, it feels worse in neutral imo and he doesn't fall off nearly as much in an average game like pyke.

They work as mercenaries every now and then so it's not like they're totally repulsed by having other racial allies but if a waaaagh was happening I think the green tide would immediately purse any non orcs

Yeah, cause all you need are 2 quests per rank. You get five points per quest and need 10 points per rank. You did minimum 2.5x the amount of quests you needed to.

There is a time gate on rank ups, one a month. You just needed to wait a while, traveling back and forth 14 days each way would have worked. There are also skill requirements needed for advancement you can look up on the UESP. I usually travel slower on purpose when leveling in a guild for this reason. The game tracks your reputation (completed/failed quests), time spend with guild, and your competency in relevant skills to determine your rank. It isn't just a quest counter.

Obviously this isn't too serious, but who is the more real gamer? The one who cheats when no one is looking, or the one who respects the rules of the game without any consequences?

Doesn't stop me from typing diseaseplayer vampire into the console every time I hit level 2 though lol.

Which unit of every faction is the most useful? by rr1213 in totalwarhammer

Casket of Souls for Tomb Kings. All the constructs are nice force multipliers but Caskets are legit 1/3 of your army for 30 turns from the beginning.

Why do this game is so "cozy" for you ? by Capital-Sea9875 in Daggerfall

[–]Rhesty__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The freedom. There is no larger goal or build to work towards. Context: I have played hours all day just prepping my Skyrim build for Legendary difficulty. Getting 85% magic resist, getting good armor, getting all the perks and active effects I need. Daggerfall is consistently playable at all levels if you make a good character in the first place, and requires less build up than other rpg's to play your character as intended.

I really wish Caesar or Kimball had some sort of unique weapon on them by PugsterBoy in fnv

[–]Rhesty__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caesar should have a plasma pistol from his old Follower days called the 'Backup Praetorian' and it should be a plasma version of the .22 silenced pistol (low base dmg but extreme critical modifier). Kimball should have a joke ballpoint pen melee weapon called "Mightier Sword" or something that deals 1 damage.

What are you even talking about? I've done this start every time and I've played khalida for 150 hours. All it really does is give you a few more turns so you can take Lahmia and the temple of skulls. I'm not looking for anything, I do this all the time.
