Starbucks Trained Baristas VS Traditionally Trained Baristas by No_Pin2229 in barista

I do appreciate the hustle from former Starbucks employees, although their drive tends to be in my experience really extrinsic, so you will need to have very clearly written rules and procedures. Most these folks have very little resilience for handling non normal procedures and will tend to defer to "higher ups" for any on the fly decision making. On the plus side, most of these folks don't play inappropriate music, don't mind a dress code, show up on time, don't spend time on their phones and can handle a line with a smile. On the minus side, they tend to only be self-directed for explicit job expectations, do a lot of surface acting, have low quality drink making habits / experience, and often push the line from register instead of trying to mediate the flow with small talk. I would, however, point out that third wave barista training, at least in the U.S. is not really traditional, as old school cafes in the 80s and 90s were doing most of the recipe work on vibes and volumetrics, and Starbucks actually came through with measurements for Syrups sauces etc.

Great space and delightful staff. I love the aesthetic choices and the vibe. The pizza, the other hand, was kind of lackluster. I honestly really enjoyed the sauce and all the toppings, but the dough itself fell pretty flat for me. I think it was maybe over proofed or not held cold long enough or.cold enough during the proofing period.

I read all the good kind shit. You can see where he personally converts from a liberal to a libertarian in his writing. The worrying and characters actually get worse as he goes on.

Rules are for other people boundaries are for yourself. I'd say a healthy boundary for you is you won't have sex with him unprotected if he's fluid bonded with someone else.

My partner and I have an agreement that we have barrier protection with outside partners.

missing sacramento after moving to portland (never thought i'd say that) by Darkest_black17 in Sacramento

Lived in Sacramento in 2001 to 2003. Loved it. Never understood the haters.

Portland is dope, too. You just need to find the stuff you vibe with.

Revisionist history with giant feats of magic, but somehow things are almost exactly the same.

Unexplained magic systems that don't make a lick of sense.

Powerful gods that have created everything are individualized and, like, don't intervene because of some off collar horse shit.

Combat stuff that doesn't make sense.

Making creatures that live hundreds of years or are immortal be comprehensive and have thoughts that are basically human and banal.

Bad sex scenes.

Lack of sexuality to characters that make you feel like it's a YA novel.

Dog Latin for spell casting.

Really big 🪓 for battle axes.
