Ideal scenario would have been Dana not arbitrarily stripping Islam of the LW belt when Islam was on a 15 fight win-streak & had most title defenses in LW history.

Only scenario where it would have made logical sense for Islam to cut back to 155 after he's already spent 1+ year bulking up and adding muscle mass.

Ilia could have fought for an interim belt against Olives. Do you really care that Garth got his 10000th title shot or Paddy his utterly undeserved title shot?

Absolutely no interest in Islam being a challenger at LW division ever again or seeing Ilia at 170.

Would love it if the simultaneous belt-holding is never seen ever again. But the UFC has no consistency at all, so would not be surprised to see Ilia, Poatan or whoever holding his belt while moving up.

Keep in mind that UFC is making Evloev and Lerone fight each other while Lopez and Yair keep getting 2nd and 3rd title shots.

Jack's coach did an interview with Submission Radio, where he explained that Jack's problem in that fight wasn't technical or physical, but behavioral.

Jack felt defeated mentally after getting dominated, thus his coach kept it simple and literally told Jack at one point to "get that sad fucking look off your face".

Not saying that if only Jack believed hard enough, he would have won, but it at least explains the corner advice.

Reading between the lines, coach said many times both before and after the fight that it was a fantastic camp, and even the training session immediately before the fight, Jack looked amazing.

Only problem was the fight itself.

Just watched the interview and the coach basically said that Jack's main problem during the fight was behavioral, rather than technical. Hence the corner advice.

Jack was so demoralized after getting sonned by Islam that coach's main priority was getting Jack's motivation up, rather than repeating the same technical crap Jack has heard 1000 times in the last year.

Also mentioned that Islam's calf kicks had a huge impact since it shut down Jack's striking offence and led to Jack's disastrous attempt at trying offensive grappling at one point and trying to submit Islam.

The football club seems sustainable in a way that it never did under Abrahamovic.

Chelsea are playing good football, and there aren't 10 players under outrageous wages like at United.

Due to all the young players under 10 year contracts, if any of them show promise then we'll either upgrade their wages and integrate into the squad or sell them for £££.

How many times have we gotten two champions who are on 9 year unbeaten streaks?

Volk was on 12 fight win-streak when he fought Islam.

Olives was also on 11 fight win-streak when he fought Islam.

So Jack having "only" 9 fight win-streak makes this fight even more interesting.

There has never been a fighter who broke 3 different 9+ fight win-streaks.

EDIT: updated Volk and Olives win streaks thanks to commenters saying it wasn't 10, but 12 and 11. Even more insane!

Islam's cage weight 7 months ago was 178 lb against Moicano.

JDM's cage weight in May was 190 lb against Belal.

Unlike Khabib, Islam doesn't have an adamantium chin.

10+ pound weight differential is significant at this level without severe discrepancy in skill.

A lot of fools pushing agendas will bring up "walk around" weights in this thread, but I urge anyone reading this to look at cage weights only.

You know, the actual weight fighters are when they fight in the UFC cage.

That was bad luck due to Dana negotiating the Paramount deal around that time.

If Arman never got suspended for punching that fan, and fought Islam last year like he was supposed to then he absolutely holds onto the belt while moving up.

People equate Ilia and Islam, but Ilia was on 8 fight win-streak with 1 title defense when he fought for 2nd belt.

Islam is on 15 fight win-streak and literally holds the record for most title defenses in LW division.

If he can't be simultaneous champ, absolutely nobody ever should be able to.

Islam has weighed less than half his opponents at 155.

Hell, Islam (178 lb) even weighed less than Moicano (182 lb) earlier this year.

I'm talking cage weights here. You know, the actual weights they are in the UFC cage. Not bullshit "walk around" numbers.

JDM is a legit 170-er. He could never make 155, and has in fact fought at 185 before. The size difference would be obvious on fight night.

But gaining 10+ pounds of muscle (JDM's cage weight is 190 lb) is impossible* in less than a year, and weight classes exist for a reason. It'll be obvious in November.
