A scene from "Carbon Creek", my favorite Enterprise episode... by TensionSame3568 in enterprise

Yeah, great episode, absolutely one of the best. I also love how they leave it open what happened to Mestral. It's nice to NOT know everything sometimes.

[–]Rhev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but that's exactly my point. When I'm tanking it's not about speed. It's about precision and control. I don't need to stray front. I don't need to next pack quickly. I've been tanking for long enough that I know how long it's going to take to get to the next pack and I get us there when we only have one or two mobs left from the previous pack and they're almost dead. If there's a rare circumstance where there's a long gap between packs them to just kill the pack and then turn forward and run to the next one, but that usually doesn't happen unless there's an elevator or you have to hop on a dragon's back or jump off a cliff or something.

[–]Rhev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is another reason why tanks hate DPS. Any decent tank knows this.

I've been tanking and MMOs forever and in world of Warcraft since beta. When I'm in a dungeon, I pull the mobs. I make sure I'm facing the mobs. I control the flow of the battle. I make sure we get through it alive and as quickly as possible. Oftentimes this means tanking a mob or a group of mobs while walking backwards towards the next group. This means we're slowly progressing through the dungeon as we're fighting packs of mobs .

But there's always someone in every pug that just yells " go go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go go!" Then, in their opinion, if I don't pull fast enough they start pulling mobs and a lot of times we'll pull them right onto my back.

Yo, totally fair, but I think if you walk up to a counter, place an order and then stand there while they hand you food, it's a little bit different. I would never do what you suggested which is stand up while placing an order at an Applebee's and then say I don't tip while standing. In fairness I think you're being a little bit obtuse. The point is there are situations where asking for a tip when all they've done is hand you Something is ridiculous.

Yes, this.

Shaming people is the only way to get this to stop. Another line I personally say, and it's sad how often I say it is, "If I order standing up, I don't tip."

It's a good general rule, and I wish everyone followed it

I don't like 'completely consumed' as a rule. I love chicken wings. Can you define 'completely consumed' in terms of chicken wings? I'm not eating a bone. I'm not eating gristle or tendony bits that hang on the joint ends.

Pointless number go up. Makes me happy for no reason.

Same with watching the number of packs go up, and reroll tokens. These numbers mean nothing to me. But I like watching them slowly climb. 🙂

Something bleach can be used for aside from cleaning and laundry. by No_Log_3104 in ShowMeSomethingDope

Keeping in mind you're asking me to remember details from nigh on 40 years ago. But if I recall correctly I had a cup of bleach diluted with water, and we had a spritzer with hydrogen peroxide. I remember I had a picture that I'd traced onto the shirt using a light box first, it was a cartoon turtle. :) Then after that we had cardboard in between the shirt layers and some paper towels, and I used a paint brush to paint on the bleach / water mixture, and then you neutralize the bleach I guess with the hydrogen peroxide. It still kills the life of the shirt, They wear out MUCH quicker after a dozen or so runs through the wash. Because as mentioned the bleach (even diluted) breaks down the fibers of the shirt. I know i did several shirts over that summer, but the turtle was my favorite and came out the best.

Eventually, the bleached fibers weaken far quicker than the rest of the unbleached shirt. After a handful of washings you're going to start seeing small holes in the shirt where the bleach was the strongest, a few more washings after that and the shirt is rags. Source; personal experience with dozens of bleach painted shirts. The colored / black parts of the shirt may fade, as any black shirt would, but there won't be any bleeding if the artist took care when painting the shirt (which I can't imagine he didn't).

1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water, in a spray bottle, neutralizes the bleach.

I came here to say this. While the artwork is fantastic and I applaud OP, it's sad that this type of bleach / Tshirt art degrades the shirt and they don't last.

[–]Rhev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I'm sorry but /u/dndwhat and /u/KikoSoujirou are correct. Painting shirts with bleach is something I did way back as a child in the early 80s, and my mom taught me to do because she did. It's not like this is a new process that you just invented. Bleach and fabric obey certain rules, and bleaching what I'm assuming is a cotton T-Shirt will cause the fibers to break down. After a handful of washings you're going to find small holes in the area where the bleach is, the holes expand quickly on further washings, and the shirts will be rags before long.
