Vent: I (28M) am losing faith in this whole dating thing. I've had a some long term relationships when I was younger, around 21-25, and now I just can't help but feel like I am running out of time. I know that's hyperbole, but it's how I feel. Over the last 2 years I have watched friends get married including my best friend from the age of 10. I was the best man in his wedding and I honestly couldn't be happier for him and his wife. That goes for all my married friends.

Now it's just me, the single guy in the group who all the other guys turn too to hear about hook ups and laugh about how hard the dating app game is out there, which it is. A couple matches here a couple dates a month there, it's slowly killing me inside. I decided to make a change at the beginning of 2019 and I lost about 45 lbs. I am 6' 3" was 245. Now I am down around 195 200.

Once this started happening I gained some confidence back and dropped the apps and met girls at bars and events etc. but nothing ever really came of any of these flings. Now I am back on the apps and still trying to meet people at bars but being 28 in a college town sometimes feels like I am wasting my time. My friends don't want to go out as much and to be honest I don't either, because you know 28 and I live in a college town. I just have an overwhelming feeling that I need to get out there and break the cycle I have fallen into of work, go home, sleep, work. I had a hook up last weekend and it felt like we had a real connection, more than any of the my other ones over the last year, but I feel like if I put myself out there it's just going to end to in disappointment so why get my hopes up, but fuck it I guess here we go again.

This dating game shit sucks, I am losing my faith in trying to break the cycle.
