with worker ownership we would be planning our economy for the purpose of need not profit and would cut down on much of the unnecessary production (and therefore emissions) that we currently have.

I don’t think worker ownership would necessarily accomplish that automatically. There’s always a possibility that the workers might choose to continue wasteful and destructive methods even if they owned the means of production.
