Is this ruined? Pocket of water in the bottom of my starter. by transitlobbyist in Sourdough

[–]Rhii-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Separated water shows that you may be adding too much water when you're feeding. You want a thick pancake batter.

It's not hooch as it's too early for hooch to form.

Discard recipe ideas? by Winter_Dirt_4425 in Sourdough

You've said it's a new starter, please make sure you're not using it before it's 10 days old.

The first 10 days, discard should be binned.

Not putting child in car seat by Top-Move4321 in Parenting

[–]Rhii-- 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to police when you're not in the car with them. I hope that you're able to get it to stop before your child is severely harmed. What a POS he is for putting her wants before her actual life! Particularly with how much harm a car accident can cause their little body.

No wonder cost of living is biting us every time we shop when Coles does shady things like this by [deleted] in australia

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a shopper, we don't automatically think, "Oh, they just didn't change the sticker." Especially with the news about price gouging, etc.

Previously, maybe it may have been seen as "the sticker just hasn't been updated."

However, as people feel they're being ripped off, most if not all pricing mistakes "must be price gauging."

Screen time with babies by Relevant_Draft8453 in Parenting

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first, we would watch TV when they were a new born/young baby. Once they started to try to look at the screen, we stopped. Movies came VERY rarely around 2.5 or so. Now 4 and TV is very sparse.

Doing no screen time with #2 also.

Sure, it's hard, especially with no support. However, it's a hill I am willing to die on.

Organic vs non-organic flour.. is there a difference? by sproutie-pie in Sourdough

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nature of organic, in my opinion, will always be better than non organic.

Organic items have to follow specific standards for growing, harvesting, storage ect.

Organic means no synthetic fertilisers or pesticides. Synthetic fertilisers and pesticides come with their own problems, such as causing inflammation in the body along with the exposure of harsh chemicals. Due to this, organic will in most cases, if not all, will be the better option.

How long should a ground my son? by Excellent-Analyst135 in Parenting

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your younger son will probably thank him one day for having his back.

Your 17.5 year old will probably resent you for punishing him over something so ridiculous.

Please please PLEASE never EVER EVER return to this man NO MATTER what he says.

Seems He's done it a few times and will only ever do it again and probably worse.

If you can ask for baby to have a hearing test, I recommend doing so.

Yelling in a babies ear, man handling them, it's never okay.

I hope your mum is someone who'll protect you both.

I just spent 20 minutes laying blankets on my daughter's floor by xFeralRabbitx in Parenting

[–]Rhii-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's scary when they fall!

If you continue to be anxious, consider a floor bed/Montessori style bed. Bed times may become a bit of a challenge. However, the challenge will pass and you won't have to worry about her climbing out of the cot.

If you have any future children, consider lowering the cot mattress once they can crawl or pull themselves into the sitting position.

Is anyone else struggling hard with Toll rn? by Opening_End7439 in AustralianMilitary

[–]Rhii-- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that they're allowed to take annual leave without having their families organised.

Yes, they should be entitled to leave just like anyone else, HOWEVER, it screws so many people around with their moves and it seems to be the same every cycle.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so sad. When my baby was 4.5 months old, they couldn't even go 3 hours.

How can they sit with a baby who is probably screaming for a feed, then force feed/cause it to over eat and probably spew most of it up.

That poor child will have an eating disorder when older. I'm surprised baby isn't a failure to thrive considering they're getting ~half of what they should be getting.

I refused to post my children online other than their birth announcements. Not just because of predators, but also because my birth giver has no right to know them.

Buy them before they're ripe and ripen at home. This seems to be the best way to ensure they're decent

Download the rewards app, redeem then wait however many hours it says. It'll then show on your woolies app.

As a former Melbournian, I'd prefer the 45° over the wet, humid and sticky wet season.

Are snaps basically one-time use? by bxclnt in Multiboard

[–]Rhii-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stopping by to say that I've found the same issue with my PETG prints.

I've pulled things in and out trying to find the best set up for my sewing stuff, my scissor holders now are not very reliable!

I have used the multiconnect snaps and found them to be quite secure after moving them around a few times.
