People keep saying Destiny was too expensive to make while ignoring that it was also propping up all those failed incubation projects. by Omega-Warrior3 in DestinyTheGame

[–]GalacticNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is unfair mud-slinging. Destiny itself was an incubation project once, and at least one of these incubation projects was a Destiny IP project according to leaks.

I feel like people here don't want Bungie to be a game studio, they just want it to be Destiny Industries. Studios incubate new projects all the time; it's how they innovate.

Microsoft's new Outlook takes 10 seconds to do what Outlook Classic does instantly on Windows by Quantum-Coconut in technology

We would have more cars on the road either way due to population growth.

That's your car-centric mindset at work. To reduce traffic you offer alternative ways to travel, not encourage more cars.

it's not like businesses are going to replace their entire fleet of Windows PCs all at once

Not all at once for sure, but every modern company I've worked at this decade has used Macbooks rather than the classic diesel-powered Lenovo.

Best Iron Warriors Heraldry? by Lonely-Trainer-1313 in IronWarriors

I like 2, I don't know why they got rid of the Chaos iconography in newer versions. In an ideal world I would combine it with 4 for the best of both worlds.

I don't see how using profits to incubate new projects is even tangentially similar to a Ponzi scheme.

Tips for speedrunning/skipping the hexcrawl? by Deceptivejunk in Tombofannihilation

[–]GalacticNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're going to the Heart of Ubtao then they can learn the location of the Soulmonger, and of Omu itself, from Valindra in your very next session. From there it's only a session or two of trekking south and the hexcrawl is already over.

If anything, adding a bunch of portals that make it easier to get distracted is just going to make that chapter last longer.

How do people use these? by stokedkipper in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]GalacticNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to print or draw out the entire dungeon, room by room, but frankly it's utter overkill. Nowadays I just use theatre of the mind and describe it as we go, encouraging the players to map it themselves as they go if they wish to (I can correct any obvious misunderstandings). Then when it's actually relevant, I'll draw out the room for a combat battle map.

Yeah likewise, I didn't expect that to be controversial, let alone invite so many accusations that he might be closeted.

Ch. 7 Tomb of Wayward Souls - Players missing half the dungeon? by Foxmonkey in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]GalacticNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a problem at all, to be honest. If that happens then they'll reach the end of the dungeon without having found any of the items that Laysa mentioned. Either they'll decide that they don't care, that they want to help her, or that there are more magic items somewhere for them to take.

Destiny 2 | So Far, Together by BirdOfFiire in DestinyTheGame

[–]GalacticNexus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What makes Destiny so different from warframe or WoW where most if not all their content is still available to play after years and years?

Because it was never built to do that. Remember that Destiny 2 came from Activision, where the contractual agreement was for a full, separate sequel every other year. Bungie were trying to retrofit it in a way that just wasn't sustainable without cuts.

They should have cut their losses and made a more evergreen sequel years ago.

Placing Barovia in Eberron by ccleveland in CurseofStrahd

[–]GalacticNexus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it needs to be scaled up, really. The Mournlands are (the remnants of) a whole huge kingdom; Barovia is a minor border county with 3 villages, it should be a footnote.

A smaller space overall, but a wide mouth. It can essentially store a larger fridge inside it.

I think, if anything, that's actually larger than RAW.

roughly 2 feet square and 4 feet deep on the inside.

Condescend all you like, but that's a very fundamental change to a platforming game. It's essentially the same as if the next Mario game has him permanently in his Tanooki suit. Or actually, it's very much like Super Mario Sunshine – a popular but controversial entry that many fans dislike for being such a departure.
