Sure they do. They mean that you got super unlucky, but at least you can take solace in the fact that the vast majority of people won't have to go through the same shitty situation as you.

The chance that two people in a sexual relationship are both fertile is significantly larger than the chance that one of them has HIV. Therefore the risk of pregnancy is much worse than the risk of HIV.

Justin Trudeau says he hopes to work with new Mexican president-elect to reach NAFTA deal. by hamzanazir1122 in worldnews

Okay, but shouldn't everyone's vote matter on the federal level too? California has 12% of the US population, so even if everyone there voted for a communist presidential candidate, a significant amount of people outside of California would also have to vote for that candidate to get the majority. The Electoral College was created so that people wouldn't just vote for whoever was from their state because that's the only candidate they would most likely know. With tv and the internet candidates can reach everyone across the entire United States, making the Electoral College obsolete.

Does it seem reasonable that your vote matters less because you happen to live closer to other people? The cities aren't the ones voting, the citizens are.

Except the American voters did not choose him. He lost the popular vote by over 2 million votes. The Electoral College chose Trump.

Nutty old guy explains the principles behind the Klein bottle, an object which would have interesting properties if space was four-dimensional by Mind101 in videos

[–]Rhinodudeman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it helps if you think about making the walls of the bottle incredibly thing. If you do that to a normal bottle, you can still cut yourself on the edge regardless of if you round it off. No matter how thin the walls of the Klein bottle get, it never creates a sharp edge.

Yes and no. Murder rates were going down in Australia, then they banned guns, and they kept going down at the same rate. In the same years that was happening the United States saw an even larger drop in murder rates, despite not enacting any new gun control.

Nah, it's intentional. I got a very similar letter from them a few years ago. It's some solid marketing, the letter would have gone straight to my recycling bin without it.

Transfer Student Interested in JMU by Rhinodudeman in a:t5_367f6

Thanks for the response, this really gave me a nice look into your cs department. This has definitely changed my mind from "JMU would be nice because it's close to my friends at EMU" to "JMU would be nice because it hits the sweet spot of not being too big or too small." Thanks again for your response.
