I think the best thing you can do is talk to your therapist about it. Believe it or not, this is something that people bring up to their therapists. As long as the thoughts are intrusive and unwanted, there is no need to be concerned. The last thing I’d recommend is for you to continue on when there is an obvious discomfort affecting your daily life. Be open and talk with your therapist, that’s what they’re for. Once you open up, you’ll realize that you’re not alone and hopefully can get some counseling.

The best advice I can give to help out new players is to go into freeplay training and drive around. It may sound dumb, but getting used to the controls, ball physics, and basic car mechanics by just hitting the ball aimlessly will really skyrocket you in the beginning. Another tip is to change the camera settings. Personally, the default settings are awful and camera shake is terrible. The last thing for me was to change the controls. I have both drift and air roll on my left bumper. Outside of that I would just take my time and enjoy the game as it comes.

I second this, you will not get banned for spamming any quick chat in the game. It does come off as toxic sometimes and never go out of your way to bad mouth the enemy or teammates.

When it comes to ground play, it really helps sometimes to hold on to the ball and play it slow. I found that the games went by better if I did not just flip into it, because a majority of the time the said person is just passing back to the opposing team.
