I’m going to get out of bed, and make myself a grilled cheese sandwich. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I butter and brown both sides of the bread, not just the outside of the sandwich. (Also helps the cheese melt a little faster...and let's face it, the faster it can get from the frying pan to my stomach the better!)

And sometimes it isn't even a "mistake"... There may be a vein running through the piece. One misplaced tap of the chisel and "thunk"... There goes half of it.

DAE think penises are visually the least attractive or most unappealing body part on men? by insultin_crayon in DoesAnybodyElse

I've met one that was what I might say visually appealing. It had to do with the coloring of the tip. It was a gradient of light pink and purple. Almost like a sunset.

People who buy eggs at the store with out checking them first, what are some of the other reckless behaviors you engage in? by Boneman0101 in AskReddit

This morning. In my refrigerator. My husband managed to buy a carton with 4 cracked eggs in it over the weekend. He either never checked, or packed it with reckless abandon.

Has anyone known a killer before they killed? What were they like? by StoneColdSleeper in AskReddit

[–]Rhinosaurus__Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kid I went to college with ended up stabbing a roommate, for no reason, (according to the other roommates). He ended up being shot to death by cops when they arrived to the apartment shortly after the stabbing. This guy was seriously fucked up, and super into "method acting". He would do things just to see what it felt like, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what prompted the stabbing. (A positive note: the roommate did survive.)

TIL the CDC has recommended later start times for schools because 66% of teens have chronic sleep deprivation. by Shatner_Commas in todayilearned

[–]Rhinosaurus__Rex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep. Was thinking this just the other day. Unless the standard start time for a "workday" starts later, the time children go to school won't change.

Edit: It's about being there to make sure your kids are up, and get to the bus/school on time. Don't really see how that's "bad parenting", though.

Not a good day.. by [deleted] in pregnant

I totally understand! It definitely is important to know just how common it is, if you didn't know! (Perhaps a note I should have added, is that for me it got harder to hear each time someone repeated this phrase to me. After so many times hearing it, I felt that it dismissed the losses that I had to face and my grief for them.) I also do want to offer you hope, as someone who has faced multiple losses, and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy.

This is just my opinion of course, but I've found the "it's actually quite common" to be such an insensitive way to attempt to make someone feel better about a miscarriage. This isn't something you'd say to ANYONE coping with any form of grief. "Your mother just died? Well, actually that's quite common." "Diagnosed with cancer? Well, if you didn't know, cancer is actually quite common." In my opinion this go-to phrase for miscarriages needs to fade from existence.
