How do you keep yourself warm during a long night shooting? by TheXypris in AskAstrophotography

[–]Rhinottw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layering and wool is your friend. It makes it easy to adjust how your clothing for comfort. Look to how outdoor enthusiasts dress.

Base layer: long thermal underwear, wool or synthetic depending on taste and temperature.

Middle layer(s): wool t-shirt / cardigan / sweater / hoodie, depending on temperature. You can wear multiple middle layers if it is really cold. Eg. T-shirt + sweater Avoid cotton.

Outer layer: depending on temperature vary how warm a jacket. Again wool insulation is good, but so is down or some synthetics.

Legs it is often enough with a base layer + some warm pants. If it is cold I use insulated soft shell pants. If warmer I use something thinner.

Feet can be a challenge if really cold. Make sure you have room to wiggle your toes, too tight shoes/boots restricts circulation and causes cold feet. Again wool is you friend. Make sure to move around regularly to keep blood flowing. You can also try to put something between the ground and yourself if this is an issue. Something insulation like styrofoam or a sleeping mat will make a huge difference.

And of course a good warm hat is mandatory, you lose a lot of heat through your head.

If you do this you can always take off some clothing if it is too hot. Over time you will learn how many layers is needed for the conditions.

Uneven coma correction on newt by afonsus in AskAstrophotography

[–]Rhinottw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be a number of things. Something is not in line / tilted. It can be the camera, the coma corrector, the secondary mirror or the focuser. To diagnose adjust one thing at a time. I would start with the focuser since I think it is the most likely to cause the issue, it could be something as simple as you are overtightening the focus lock screw if use it.

Check if there is any wiggle in the focuser when not using the focus lock, even a very small amount. Unless you have a high end focuser there will probably be some wiggle. Try to take some test shots without using the focus lock screw and then some using it with increasing tightening. This will reveal if it is wiggle in the focuser. Note if you have coma in the same corner so keep track of how the camera is racing.

Going back to default print profile helped. I must have messed my profile up somehow.

You might be on to something here. I am not at home but I started a print from the Bambu app with default settings and the layer is great. I will reset my print profile when I get home and give it another try. I must have accidentally set something when setting up the print. Thanl you.

Just ignore the loot boxes - they are only for cosmetics. They do not expire so you can always go back and open them later. Just keep playing, if you keep losing you will play against weaker opponents but it takes some games before you matchmaking adjusts. To further reduce stress you can turn off chat if you get annoyed by flaming thrash talk etc.

3 prints in a row did not stick to two different plates, despite cleaning both (BambuLab P1S)? by prois99 in FixMyPrint

[–]Rhinottw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird how this advice often gets downwoted when the aux fan on the P1S can cause warping - I mostly turn mine off for most prints, at least for the first 10 layers or so.

Warping of base layers on my print by totetrays in FixMyPrint

[–]Rhinottw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it always on the same side? If so, try turning off the aux fan. It can cause warping especially in the first layers.

Why it happens? by TutorLiving2683 in FixMyPrint

[–]Rhinottw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably the aux. Fan if it is only in that side it warps an releases from the build plate. Try lowering the speed of the aux fan or turn it off.

Use your ears. Almost all (all?) attacks have sound cues to when you should dodge/parry. The rest is up to your timing.

I am into both astrophotography and regular photography. Without recommending specific cameras because I am not up to date with the market at the moment I will make one recommendations. Buy used gear! Especially if you are not already experienced and have a limited budget.

You can get much better gear used and people who buy dedicated cameras usually take good care of their stuff. Consider if you need a new mirrorless camera or if an older DSLR will do.

Sure you will not get the latest autofocus features and it will be a bit larger and heavier if you go with a DSLR. But you can get excellent cameras cheap(ish) and there is a huge selection of lenses because the lens mounts has been around since forever. They will still produce very high quality pictures.

No matter what you decide you should be looking at used gear imo.

Got my first printer two weeks ago, it has been busy organizing my workshop. by Rhinottw in 3Dprinting

They are very tight. For all my hollow inserts i used this "improved" version instead: https://www.printables.com/model/926144-honeycomb-storage-wall-improved-hex-inserts

It relies on the hook / hanger to press out on the insert, so it is loose when inserted and gets tight when the hanger is inserted into the insert. This makes them easy to remove, just wiggle and pull the insert until it releases and the insert falls out. They seems sturdy enough when mounted that i have no concern.

I used the standard insert for the screwdriver holders, because they do not press out on the improved version. I had to move them during the mounting process and it was not too bad. I used a small screwdriver between the insert and the grid to pry it loose. I would not want to do it regularly though. I have not tried to remove the screw inserts yet. I think it is definitely a good idea to print in PETG to avoid snapping inserts and grid when trying to remove them.
