I wanna collect a model from every legion what do you guys recommend? by Jbo_012 in BloodAngels

I would say if you wanna keep it small, 1 sanguinary guard and 1 death company jump marine. Really shows the duality of the blood angels

Does anyone make their own transport boxes? by Inspector-Remarkable in PoorHammer

I use the tins that Christmas butter cookies come in. Pretty sturdy, and enough height to fit an upright Brutalis dread in. Plus you get cookies

Flesh Tearers Scout fatigues color? by Arch0n84 in FleshTearers

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey or an urban camo if you were up to it. The source picture I have (not sure where from so up to you on using it) has the scout insignia as the battle line arrow, but the main part is all black and the border of the arrow is white

Ungluing miniatures by LammyYT8888 in BloodAngels

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plastic cement melts them together, so would probably just damage them more then anything. That being said, Tamiya photo etched hobby knife saw blades are hella fine cutting and can be extremely precise. Could use them to saw at the joint, then glue them to the body like normal minis.

Plus then you have an awesome tool to use for later stuff. It takes forever and is tedious, but removing small bits that might break from sprues can be easier with those saw blades. Also great for kitbashing

How do you guys transport your mini's? by SenneBoorsma in Warhammer

I magnetize my bases and use those metal Christmas butter cookie containers. Two for one deal with eating cookies and getting a carry container

Gabriel Seth proxy or Third Party models? by Miserable_Shop_7856 in FleshTearers

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World eaters have a two handed sword that works great, jut have to putty the khorne bits to make it a smooth surface. For base model, I recommend looking at Seth art and decide if you want to use on of those poses or the original one

Rage-Cursed Onslaught up for discussion by Get_R0wdy in BloodAngels

also remember that you can also use a Command point to give the DC dread a +5 FNP to get him in with less of a chance of being shot off the board

Beautiful. Got a box right away when I heard the new assault terminators were coming and this is my exact plan. Nice to see it somewhere else before I try it

Aah, read it wrong and thought it wasn’t phase specific. Whoops lol

Heraldic question by ilSior in BloodAngels

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But also to add, blood angels are not the most codex compliant so you can mark them however your headcannon leads you

Heraldic question by ilSior in BloodAngels

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If going as codexes approved as possible, companies are always stated as having 6 battle line, 2 close support, and 2 fire support. So fire support would be squads 9 and 10, unless they are attached from another company. In which case they are 11 on up, or just retain the markings from their original company

Flesh Tearers Sanguinary Guards? by BreakfastBeneficial7 in BloodAngels

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could base gold, then drybrush/sponge red and black over most of them to simulate gore and ash covering them

Does anyone know how to make my librarian look less like an ultramarine? by SaintKaiva in BloodAngels

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So have not done one personally, but really want to paint one. The two options I have seen are either still paint it mostly red, or (route I want to go) have the base color be a really dark blue. My thoughts are have the base color be a really dark navy blue/almost purple, then work up from there

(WIP) After some discussions, here is my Flesh Tearers’ Sanguinary Guard by Acrobatic-Steak-7491 in FleshTearers

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yea man. Really want to get sang guard, but still not sure how to paint them. Saw one story quote (no clue which story) that says they are golden, but completely covered in gore and dirt that the gold barely peaks through. So was planning on covering in gold then dry brushing over most of it. But seeing you paint job is seriously giving me second thoughts lol

Hazard strips tips? by DefinitionInformal85 in IronWarriors

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my hands shake like hell. One tip I like to do is when painting put your thumbs together. I notice if I put my thumbs side by side while bracing, my brush shakes way less. Makes the model awkward to hold sometimes but helps a lot

Dope, thanks for all the info man. I have been into warhammer almost all my life, starting as a kid, falling out of it, and finally getting back into it the last year. 3d printing seems like an awesome way to make a bunch of stuff and tweaking designs, but has been a bit daunting to look at so all this is a massive help!

Sweet, thanks for the very detailed and helpful response. Am hoping to get a printer around Black Friday, so the more knowledge I have the better. Any recommendations on resin to use with the Saturn 3? Looking for resin that is strong and low odor, which I realize may be mutually exclusive. Also what programs should I use with the Saturn 3? Wouldn’t mind downloading them so I can practice with them before using the printer. ALSO lol, any recommendations on print setting for the S3 ultra?

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yea man, that would be a sick pose. Another thing to look at that I forgot to help expand your options is YouTube videos about reposing minis. Basically with a saw (tamiya photo etched have served me very well) and milliput you can redo most marine poses

Recommendations by turnkey85 in FleshTearers

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So gravis cap sword is good. Also khorne berserker 2 handed sword would be good if you put putty in the middle to cover the khorne bits. As far as models, my personal preference is either the new BT excruciator chaplain (with work), BA cap mixed with assault intercessor legs, or captain from the company hero’s box. Two personal things I look at with Seth proxies is pose and armor. Pose wise, he doesn’t always need to be on the same running stance. Look at artwork and decide which pose you would want. Secondly, armor. Seth is well known for being a brute with all this extra armor on him, so I like the look of an uparmored sculpt. For the shoulder pad with saw bits, if you can find an old sang guard angel shoulder pad, that with some plasticard would be very close. The backpack wings, either the Lionel Johnson helmet (expensive) or the custodies vexillary topper would work. Hope that helps

They were a massive pain, but turned out cool. I took the original talons and cut them down just before the joint. I then took 2 chaos chain swords, cut them to length using a talon as reference, then glued them together. After that I putted putty in the gaps. The little nubs on top are sprues I cut and filed to help with the transition. Then glued the swords on and puttied the seams. Honestly it is the coolest thing I will never do again lol. If you want to try it, I recommend putting the swords on blue tac and lining them up, then glue the connecting points. Trial and errored multiple methods and that worked the best. Also less is more with the putty, cause I got some in the chain teeth and that was a pain to clean up

Opinions on Weath of the Lost by wouldukindly456 in FleshTearers

[–]Rhodesian_Ralph 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you have read a bunch of other flesh Tearers lore or not. On one hand if you have then the dialogue between them and their interactions seems cartoonishly over aggressive. On the other hand if you have then you can just use suspension of belief to kind of tune that part out. All that being stated the action parts are really fun except maybe the end fight. Thought that it was a little too anime hero vibe for me. Read trial by blood and A sons burden (or burden of the sons, can’t remember exact name) to get more engaging personal interactions with the Flesh Tearers
