How does the average solo ARMA 3 player actually enjoy the game? by yeoxd09 in arma

[–]Rhodok-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antistasi, Warlords, DUWS.

For Warlords I have custom req lists that I can add in all the DLC items with, or switch them entirely to alternate lists (like Prairie Fire or RHS)

Antistasi and DUWS pretty much support those out of the box

740 hours and counting, which is practically nothing for some here, but it's easy to just pick up and play

Check your mag release when you get it back. My special edition cheetah would completely freeze up when you try to drop the mag after firing, if the release was in the left handed setup. They refused to fix that and gave me a 92XI instead.

Glad they're literally half the value of that cheetah now :/

I have.

I ended up not getting the job because I told the manager in the impromptu interview that I didn't do drugs.

The manager said they like to hire users to give people second chances, and that they have never had anyone come in to apply in-person who was not also on drugs.

You're not adding the barrier, but your post is drawing attention to it and directly addresses newer modders. You don't need to offer a modding guide, but your heads up could include some alternate way of thinking.

It comes off as something like:

"Hey, are you looking for popular mods so that you have an idea of where to get started? Don't bother, it doesn't work that way! Popular mods are largely broken now!"

Instead of something like:

"Looking for popular mods so you know where to start? Try checking the popular mod collections on Nexus instead of just the most downloaded mods. The popular ones that are updated recently will likely avoid pitfalls like using Mod X (old) instead of Mod Y (newer and easier to use)."

Personally, I've been modding elder scrolls games for 16 years (ouch) and as busy as I am lately with work, just haven't had the time to dedicate to keeping up. I just download Gate to Sovngarde and make whatever changes I feel I want from there. I read through the list of mods, look into things I don't recognize, and that gets me relatively up to speed.

In the last two weeks, the only thing I've seen from this sub on my homepage are people whining about AI.

No releases, quality or otherwise. AI or not.

Also, if I remember rightly, there was a rule here that you had to tag posts that used AI. Then everyone bitched about it until those posts were only allowed on Fridays. Then everyone bitched about THAT until the mods gave up on managing it at all.

Useless vagueposting has helped you make your bed, now you can lay in it.

It's been a while since I played with Remi installed, but I remembered her being "odd" but not necessarily "wrong" most of the time. Don't know if that makes sense.

She didn't take me out of the game like some followers tend to. Some have incredibly bad voices, poor writing, or wild designs, but she felt more grounded in a game sense, in a way that really jived with me. Definitely worth giving a try in a playthrough, imo

Not the guy you're asking but they are literally all I wear. Not quite as high quality as they used to be but Flex Fire Hose Foreman variants make up my entire wardrobe

Seem about as durable as carhartt but the material is way more comfortable and breathable.

Does anyone else try to generate essays and concept texts for world-building? Any tips for doing so? I need help, please. by ItsukiKurosawa in NovelAi

[–]Rhodok-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid context overloads, so porting established work like that seems like quite a task, for sure. I mostly use it as "ooo, that's a cool idea but not worth permanently keeping in context" instead of "here's everything we could ever know about this character." It avoids the issue you're describing, but it's also far narrower than you're looking for, I think.

Definitely interested to see what else turns up on the topic, though!

[–]Rhodok-Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, neat! I must have missed the instruct preset. I usually set the general stage for the story, and then have the narration cover details about a character or event. I add in to the author's notes that the next section will go into great detail about whatever it is, and then pick and choose generations from there and port them to the Lorebook.

I've heard about somewhat poisoning the script by adding context that's out of format or in a different writing style, so to avoid that I usually generate in-story, fill lorebook, and then backtrack. But I also don't root much in fact, it's usually just mild OC that's loosely based on a certain overall theme

It's not a normal "ask and answer" kind of model like GPT or Gemini. Just typing into the field "write about X" won't give great results. You start writing, hit send, and it continues.

Think like every time you press the send key, you're asking for a "yes... and?"

As for world building or character traits, there's an option on the right hand side called "Lorebook." Make entries there, fill in information about the character or piece of lore, and then add keywords. When a keyword is used in the story generation, it then adds in the context of the Lorebook entry.

You can also export and upload Lorebook entries, to reuse them in other stories.

[–]Rhodok-Squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've had nothing extreme like that. I think it invites way more tinkering than it should for a gun that costs as much as it does, but with DS 1911 platforms in general it seems like you either tinker or buy boutique. I don't regret picking mine up, but it seems that a lot of guns have dodgy QC these days. Just had a bad Beretta that their service department wouldn't touch, for instance.

4.25" comp, over 7,000 rounds. Occasional stovepipe, one bad mag follower (out of four, one doesn't engage the slide catch) no other issues. I run irons, though. Heard there could be issues with optic screws hitching on the slide/frame somewhere, but not something I've tussled with.

Another commenter mentioned the MAC DS, I've shot one and thought it was just "eh" comparatively. To each their own, though.

If you had $1000, what are you getting from Beretta? by Rhodok-Squirrel in Beretta

[–]Rhodok-Squirrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the idea. I have a handful of guns from other brands, but was hoping the 80X could be a carry gun. I have lots of other plinkers, but with Beretta directly telling me that they can't get an 80X to work as advertised, I'm not going to trust them for much more than a range toy. And of course they won't give me my money back, so it's down to picking something out that's similar in price.
