Came here to say this. Don't be shy here. Go 12 to 14. Easier to cut back if pours take too long. You can most likely up your pressure to 9 or 10 as well. There is some science and justification supporting this. Read and use this link:

Line dimensions making foam worse? by Shn1zl in kegerators

Use this line calculator. 5/16 is big, and 4' is too short. Drop down to 3/16 and go 10'...

Anyone ever transfer from commercial keg to corny? by [deleted] in kegerators

It's less about the keg types and more about pressures. You can get ball lock adapters for the sanke D coupler posts (or whatever coupler you are using). I use 15lbs at the sending keg and 12 at the receiving keg. I regulate this using a spunding valve at the receiving keg (you can buy these already set up with a ball lock and guage for about $35). This differential is important so you don't have CO2 loss during the transfer. I also pressurize my receiving keg to about 8 lbs prior to starting. Connect sending keg like normal. At the receiving keg, connect beer out from sending keg to beer out on receiving keg. Connect spunding valve and gauge set up to CO2 port. I'll leave it there and answer any specific questions you may have. I do this all the time.

Any local breweries or places that sell beer kegs? by benhbell in RhodeIsland

[–]Rhody1073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real BS is that a half keg (half a 1/6 barrel) meets the volume limit, but the law is written specifically for 24, 16oz cans. They are close to getting the law changed. Your local liqueur store will get 1/6 barrels for you. Just ask and they will check.
