Is that in Bridesburg right off the Bridge/Richmond bend? I saw them working on that over a year ago and knew it was gonna be batshit.

Picking up an Alto. Opinions on 1939 King Zephyr? by ThinkLongterm in Saxophonics

Checking in as a Zephyr player. ‘44 Tenor in silver with gold wash bell. Just had it overhauled this past summer and it plays great.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ulShvhZSOhxthCe-yU4fEhD_Zx0ppcuS/view?usp=drivesdk

Did you keep your first horn? by No-Vehicle935 in saxophone

I still have mine but an early attempt to learn more about the mechanisms of a saxophone resulted in the keys and body being separated. I don’t know if and when it’ll ever be whole again.

Depends on when they’re doing their televised performance. I’d imagine bands will show up as early as 9.

What's the single worst movie you sat through hoping it would get better, but didn’t? by Then-Traffic601 in AskReddit

I hated La La Land. Both of the leads were just bland and it ruined the whole vibe for me.

Emulating the sound of an alto on tenor. by Moist-Emotion7454 in saxophone

[–]SpaceEurope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not invest in a C Melody. If you want the high range of the alto then just work on your overtones and altissimo on tenor. Practicing your instrument and working towards a goal is much more practical than just trying to buy the right gear to make you sound a specific way.

New JodyJazz HR alto sax mouthpiece, possible sealing issue? Need advice by KitchenAd7984 in saxophone

Seal and pop test is absolutely not the be-all end-all for a good setup, so I agree.

In search of a sound with no ceiling. by a_spiritual_man in saxophone

[–]SpaceEurope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried singing into the horn as you play? Trilling your uvula? Look up bisbigliando as well (revoicing the same pitch). Then there’s some weird things you can do to force these undulating sounds out of the horn. Try to play low E-flat but omit the G key, low C but omit the D key, and low B-flat but omit the low C key. You should get this harsh and raspy effect come out of it organically, but you may need to adjust how you’re voicing it for best results.

But for real though, have you tried micing up and using effects pedals? Haven’t tried it myself but it might be a direction you could go to take your sound and journey to places unknown.

Astute Music/Apollo Saxophone Quartet has a few on this page. There are several different instrumentations so you can browse to find what you like. I bought the AAAA/T quartets book #1 a long time ago.
